In reply to: joan 's message, "grooin node lymphadenectomy" on Wednesday, September 20, 09:43:31am

I just had a vulvectomy a few weeks ago and have recently began to find these sights were I can touch base with someone that has information about this condition. Mine is Pagets Disease of the Vulva with cancer (very rare) a doctor at one of the top NY hospitals for cancer where I went for a 2nd opinion after my surgery, said there is no protocol or enough info on how to handle this type of cancer of the vulva. My question here is that my gyn/oncologist who did the surgery wants to remove the groin nodes but the 2nd opinion doctor thinks the risk of that out ways the 1/2 of 1% chance that there is cancer in the nodes. I don't know if I should or should not have this surgery that can ultimately be very life style altering (swelling in the leg, etc). What happened with your surgery? What did your doctor say about this type of surgery?
