Congratulations to all the MHoB dancers that participated at the feis, from our First Feis dancers through the Champion level participants! It was lovely to see them all dancing, supporting each other and just hanging out.

A HUGE thank you to our feis committe chairpersons and all the volunteers - we received many compliments on both Saturday and Sunday on how smoothly the feis went and about our friendly volunteers. I know that quite a few of you pitched in well beyond your assigned shift(s), some pulling double and triple duty. THANK YOU for your time and support - it is both deeply appreciated and recognized. THanks to all who assisted with the clean-up as well - that is a significant effort and the moms, dads, and kids that helped out enabled us all to get out and have the dads relax a bit on Father's Day.

We need HELP with the clean-up on Sunday afternoon - I know it's Father's Day but if mom, dad or the kids can spare even an hour or 2 to come and help, it's greatly needed. Think about this also as a potential opportunity for service hours for your child...

Dear Parents:

We truly need your help to make this Feis a success. We are asking all MHoB families (regardless of level) to volunteer for a shift for this weekend's Feis. The form is online on our Home Page and your help is really needed.

Specific to our National Dancers: For three weeks now we have asked every family going to the Nationals to volunteer for ONE shift for the Feis this weekend. We truly appreciate and thank those parents who have already volunteered their time as asked - but we are desperate need for more help. Despite repeated requests, there are still over 25 parents of National dancers that have yet to step up and volunteer for a shift. We are making one last plea for you to register before Friday for a volunteer shift.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be registered for a shift in advance of Friday to qualify for a travel stipend for the Nationals. Although, we still would appreciate your help over the weekend - if you are not registered in advance - you will not qualify for a travel stipend as it is not fair to the volunteer coordinators to plan for help over the weekend.

If your family does not register before Friday and volunteer on Fri/Sat/Sun, and your child is participating on a NANs team, you will not receive the travel stpend and you will be required to pay the NANs dress rental fee which is $40 with a check payable to MHoB Booster Club by Wednesday, June 25th.

The Booster Club is for the benefit of the dancers and the proceeds from the Feis go directly to help fund National travel stipends and dress rental fees. Without your help, a successful Feis is not possible.

We remain in need of volunteers especially in the critical areas of stage construction, Sunday afternoon teardown/cleanup and tabulation. Please register on-line ASAP for a volunteer shift so, thanks to you, we can again deliver the finest feis in the Midwest!!

The volunteer schedule is posted on-line at our website so that you may verify the volunteer shift for which you are registered. ALso, if you have not yet registered, you can consult the schedule to see what areas still require volunteers.

Finally - As a reminder, all dancer families that will be attending the NANs must register on-line at for at least one volunteer shift to be eligible for a NANs travel stipend and to have the team dress rental fee waived. Please check in on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for each volunteer shift at the MHoB Booster Club booth (located in the center area of the feis) with the volunteer coordinators so we can record your service. The record of your service is required to be eligible for the stipend.

If your family does not volunteer on Fri/Sat/Sun, and your child is participating on a NANs team, the NANs dress rental fee is $40 and a check payable to MHoB Booster Club should be given to your teacher by Wednesday, June 25th.

Logo wear orders for Nationals tshirts/shorts/tanks are due tomorrow. We had to move the date up to ensure that we will receive the order before Nationals. Which means that as of tomorrow evening all order forms and checks must be turned in for you to receive your order. No late order can be accepted. The date for the National Logo orders have been moved up to ensure we get the orders in time for Nationals. The new deadline will be Monday June 15th. If the order form did not open for you there are order the forms at the Edison Park location and there will be order forms on Wednesday at the Elmhurst location.

Our annual feis is quickly approaching, and will be held at the MAX Facility, McCook, IL on June 20 and 21, 2009.

If you have not completed your registration, please do so immediately via http://www.efeis.com

You will also find on our homepage http://www.mullanehealyobrien.com a volunteer sign up sheet. Running our own school feis is a huge undertaken and without everybody's cooperation and volunteering the event would not be possible.

We need volunteers for Friday set up, all day Saturday and Sunday, and for tear down on Sunday.

For all those families attending the North American Nationals, 2009, it is required that each family volunteer their services for half a day. In return for volunteering the Booster Club will provide a stipend for the North American Nationals, and will also waive the dress rental fee for all team dancers. If you chose not to volunteer you will not be provided a stipend and will be responsible for the dress rental fee.

The MHoB Feis, 2009, will be held on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, 2009, at MAX - McCook Athletic and Exposition Center, in McCook, IL.

All beginner through open prizewinner competitions will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009. All Preliminary and Open Championship competitions will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2009. There will be a separate set dance competition for all PC dancers and single age championships for girls under ten through under sixteen.

Entries are now being accepted via http://www.efeis.com

There will be a School Family Feis. We are working out the details now. Unortunately, the cost of renting the RiverCenter in Davenport, IA has become prohibitive in having the Feis in the same venue that we have used in the past.

We are hopeful to have information for the School Feis within the week. We are looking at a few possible dates, but none earlier then May 30, 2009.

Quad Cities Dance Families and Other Interested Persons -

St. Ambrose University Irish Studies and Department of Kinesiology is sponsoring a free, family-friendly ceili this Sunday, April 19 from 2-4 pm in the Lee Lohman Arena (gym). Two hand, ceili and set dances dances taught and called by Gerry Bade, well-known caller in the QC. The Quad Cities Ceili Band will be on hand playing some wonderful live music. We would love to have you join us.
Park in the lot off Lombard St. next to the gym.

In addition Irish Studies is also sponsoring its annual Lawrence J. McCaffrey lecture next Thursday, April 23 in the Rogalski Center Ballrooms at 7 pm. Dr. Maureen Murphy of Hofstra University will keynote and present "The Irish Servant Girl in America." This lecture is free and open to the public. More information on the lecture can be found on the SAU Homepage.

As a point of interest: Dr. McCaffrey was one of Mike's teachers when he was in college! Dr. McCaffrey has donated a portion of his library to SAU and was a major force in initiating the SAU Irish Studies program.

I use to dance for Mullane and miss it so much, I am student teaching now and brought in my costume to show the students and it made me think of great times in the basement of Norwood Park and Sat mornings at the IAHC. I should have never stopped dancing.. I still know some steps and its been 5-6years since I stopped dancing! I am glad everyone is doing well!! :)
