I definitely think that the bunwigs look fabulous on our older and younger dancers. And i think the choreographies should wear them, they are much neater and cleaned up looking. Not to mention it'd be way easier when the girls have to look down or turn their heads around during their choreographies (no wigs falling off) I think they look so uniform and they can be our MHG Signature!! What a team would stand out! Yes i know they are more money, but it would be worth it to see our girls shine.

All MHG families should have received 2 requests to volunteer for the feis this Friday and Saturday. We REALLy need more help and ask that you signup via the VolunteerSpot link in the email you received. As a reminder, all Oireachtas dancers must sign up for 2 shifts - one being a cleanup shift- in order to be eligible for the subsidized team dress rental fee.

Our MHG feis is great fun for all - please support your academy by helping with this fes. We especially are in need of stage builders. If you need the volunteer signup information, please contact me at kathyfd@gmail.com . Thank you !

Dear Parents and Dancers:

If you have been to the Elmhurst or Edison Park studios lately, you may have noticed that the Academy has upgraded both studios.

Both studios have now been re-painted, new window and outside wall signs have been added to the Edison Park studio and a new sign will be added to the Elmhurst studio shortly; new carpeting has been added to the waiting room at EP along with a working TV for parents who wait for their dancers; both bathrooms in Elmhurst have been upgraded; and most importantly – each studio has had a thorough and extensive cleaning.

Now it is up to each and every one of us to keep it this way.

Water bottles are permissible, but eating in the studios will no longer be tolerated unless it is during a long workshop or extended solo/team lessons and approved by the teaching staff.

It should go without saying – but it is up to everyone to clean up after themselves. Each night the teaching staff is left with half cups of Dunkin Donuts coffee and donut boxes, along with an array of Subway, gum, electric tape, candy, blister, and band-aid wrappers. And now that the studios have been refreshed … that must end immediately. Nearly 100 dancers come through the door for lessons each night and there isn’t a janitor on-staff that re-cleans the studios nightly – nor should there be. We just all have to take pride in the new studios and keep them as clean as they are now.

We hope you enjoy the new refreshed look and we sincerely thank all those that made this possible. If you have any questions, please let us know.

The Mullane Healy Godley Academy of Irish Dance will be hosting the annual Halloween Feis, 2012 on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the McCook Athletic and Exposition Center, located in McCook, IL.

The feis will open for entries on August 27, 2012, and entries will be accepted through October 15, 2012 via http://www.feisworx.com. There is a cap of 800 entries for all First Feis through Open Prizewinner dancers. For Preliminary and Open Championship competitions there is a cap of 300 dancers. In preparation of the Oireachtas 2012 all Preliminary and Open Championship dancers will dance all three rounds and be adjudicated by a total of nine adjudicators, the same adjudicating format employed by the Oireachtas.

In memory of the late Ann Richens, who is sadly missed by so many in our region, we will be hosting the second annual Ann Richen's Memorial Treble Reel Competition at the Halloween Feis. The competition will combine all feis treble reel competitions into ONE, which will be held during the lunch break, and adjudicated by nine adjudicators. All dancers must wear a Halloween costume in order to partake, and the first place winner will be awarded $500. Please note all treble reel proceeds will be donated in Ann Richen’s name to the American Cancer Society.

The host hotel is the Holiday Inn, Countryside. For the feis rate of $119.00 please call 708-354-4200 and quote Irish Dance. Reservations open 9/1/2012.

The Mullane Healy Godley Feis will be on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the McCook Athletic and Exposition Center, located in McCook, IL.

The feis is now open for entries, and entries will be accepted through June 1, 2012 via http://www.efeis.com. We request that all MHG dancers register for the feis. Please be advised that all those dancers/families attending Nationals are required to work one shift and one clean up shift, in order to qualify for a waiver of the dress rental fee of $250. This will be strictly enforced this year.

There is no entry cap on First Feis or Beginner 1dancers, there is a cap of 800 entries for all Beginner 2 through Open Prizewinner dancers.

The feis will commence at 8am with the all Preliminary Competitions, First Feis and Beginner 1; 8.45am Beginner 2; 11am Novice; 1200pm All Open Championship competitions. 1.30pm All Open Prizewinner Competitions. The Treble Reel Competition will be held at 1130am. Be ready to compete 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time.


For Preliminary and Open Championship competitions there is a cap of 300 dancers. In preparation of the North American Nationals, 2012 all Preliminary and Open Championship dancers will dance all three rounds and be adjudicated by a total of nine adjudicators.

Our international panel of adjudicators for the event are: Glenn Simpson (Ontario), Jean Taylor (Ireland), Charles Moore (Ireland), Brid McInerney (Ireland), Patricia Scanlon (England), Kerry Ann Boderick (New York), Pat Hall (Arizona), Jean Hagan (New York), Patricia Kennelly (San Francisco), Christina Ryan (Pennsylvania), Allison Weber Erickson (Ohio), Russel Beaton (Maryland), Marie Moore (New Jersey), Amy Siegel (New Jersey)

The MHG Academy has always been a family oriented dance school. We, as teachers, see the MHG Academy as one big extended family.

This past week, Russ Dale (the father of All Ireland Champion Nathan Dale, along with dancers Katherine, Justin, and Christian) suffered a serious stroke while seated in his car as he picked up Katherine from dance class in Elmhurst. For those that have volunteered to tabulate at our various Feises, you know Russ well - others may know Kathy Dale from her work with the Booster Club and our Feises as well.

Fortunately, Justin and Christian were with him in the car and immediately got help. Paramedics arrived quickly and Russ got rapid treatment.

Russ had surgery on Thursday and the doctors removed a blood clot in his brain, which did suffer from trauma. Russ is in neuro ICU at Central DuPage Hospital for at least another day and will then be transferred for rehabilitation.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support during this crisis. Kathy is pretty overwhelmed by the outpouring of care and support. Because the doctors want to protect Russ from too much stimulation- they are anxious to limit visitors both at the hospital and at their house.

We ask the MHG families for their prayers for Russ and the family during this difficult time. We are an extended family and together through our prayers and support - we will be there for the Dale's. Wreath Orders will be in on Saturday December 3rd at the Edison Park Studio. We are looking for volunteers to help unload/sort wreaths at 9:15 on Saturday morning. Orders can be picked up between 1:00 and 3:00 on Saturday at the Edison Park Studio. Dear Parents and Dancers:

This time next week, the Oireachtas will be over for another year. On this Thanksgiving Week, as we complete our final practices and rehearsals - as teachers we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all our Mullane Healy Godley parents and dancers. We are grateful to have such wonderful parents who not only support their dancer, but who support the teaching staff as well. Thank you for being part of the MHG Team.

To our MHG dancers - we thank you for your hard work and countless hours of practicing. Through all the blisters and band-aids, through the little aches and pains, through juggling your homework between doing your soft shoes and your hard shoes, and through foregoing other activities for the good of your team - you have made us proud and you are now ready to compete at the Mid-American Irish Dance Championships. We thank you for being part of the MHG Team.

To our parents - we thank you for the hundreds of miles you drove to class, the hours of sitting in a parking lot or waiting room, and the sacrifices you made to get your dancers to class - but most importantly we thank you for the support you show your dancer and the teaching staff. We are fortunate to have such great parents. Thank you for being part of the MHG Team.

Back in 1985, the Academy entered our first solo dancer, followed in 1986 with our first team. That's a remarkable 25 years of entering dancers in Oireachtasi. And although the dance steps and dress styles may have changed over the years - some things remain the exact same in 2011 as they did back in 1985. The excitement of hearing your number called in the recall for the first time and the disappointment of just missing a recall - The excitement of being a World qualifier and the disappointment of just missing a qualifying place - The excitement of seeing our Under 8 dancers perform in their first Oireachtas and the disappointment of an untimely slip or a fall .... This Oireachtas will be no difference with great excitement and some disappointments. But regardless of what happens, we are the MHG Team -- made up of our dancers, our parents, our supporters, and teachers - - and we are ALL there to support each other. We are the MHG Team.

We look forward to a great weekend and we thank you for being part of the MHG Team.

Just a reminder that ALL wreath orders with payments are due on Saturday November 12th. Make all checks payable to Mullane Healy Godley booster club. Wreath pick up will be December 3rd at the Edison Park studio, the time for pick up will follow.
In order to receive a free dress rental a family must have at least $50.00 in wreath sales.
