MADISON FEIS closes Friday, May 9, 2008

Dear MHoB Families;

In light that our school will not be competing at the North American Nationals this year, and that we have a lot of dancers coming off suspension in late May, early June, we would like to organize a feis that the whole school could attend during the summer, and make a school outing, and organize a coach to leave from the studio(s). We would like as many of our students to sign up for the feis, and support our new MHoB students at the first feis.

We have chosen the Madison Feis, 2008, which will take place on June 7, 2008. For additional information, please visit www.madisonfeis.com. Entries are now being accepted through www.feisworx.com. Please sign up as soon as possible.

Regards,

Gary Healy

If anyone would be interested in staying together as a school while at Oireachtas, please contact Kelly Murphy at pkmurph@comcast.net. We can organize a block of 25 rooms at the Courtyard - Columbus Downtown for a rate of $99 per night. The hotel is 5 blocks from the convention center - we walked it last time with no problem. There is no commitment to this hotel, I am just trying to get any idea if we would have enough interest to get a block of rooms at the hotel.
Thanks - Kelly Murphy (847)825-9489

Date Posted: 22:26:21 04/27/08 Sun

The Mullane Healy O'Brien 2008 Feis needs your help May 3rd and May 4th at Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle.

Many of you have already volunteered to help out, and THANK YOU for supporting your dancers. We are still in need of help in the following areas to make sure the feis is a great experience for all of the dancers and their families and friends who come out to support them.
Stage Construction: GREAT JOB FOR HANDY DADS! Help is needed Friday afternoon/evening, anytime after 3:30, late Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30, and late Sunday afternoon starting at 3:30. We especially need help Saturday afternoon because the stage configurations need to be changed for the PC and Championship competitions that will be held on Sunday. Pizza and beverages will be available for those who can help.
Volunteer Check In: Help is needed to check in the volunteers and direct them to their work areas (Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon)
Stage Assistants: Great job for dancers 14+. Volunteers are needed for Saturday afternoon (noon-4).
Stage Runners: Great job for dancers 11+. Volunteers are needed for Saturday afternoon (noon-4).
Tabulation: This is really important to make sure that we don’t have dancers waiting all day for results to get posted. Volunteers are needed Saturday afternoon, and both Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. We really need help on Sunday, so if you can work even a few hours, it would help out.
First Aid: We are looking for a medical professional who can make themselves available for Sunday morning.
Questions:
If I have already volunteered for a shift, can I still volunteer for a different shift?
Yes, absolutely. We are happy to have any time you have to offer.
Can I still see my dancer compete?
Yes, absolutely. Take a break when your dancer is dancing and come back to work in between competitions.
How do I volunteer?:
1. The easiest way is to go the the website www.mullanehealyobrien.com . There is a copy of the most current schedule showing what still needs to be filled (volunteer signup schedule). Once you know what you want to sign up for, click on complete the volunteer form. Enter the requested info and submit. It takes less than a minute and there are no lines!
2. You can also email the volunteer coordinator (postojic@aim.com).

Please find on out home pageinformation regarding Advertising and Sponsorship options at the MHoB Feis, 2008, along with information regarding "Well Wishes".

We are currently looking to secure sponsors and advertisers for the Feis event program. In addition to your own business and personal wishes for your own special dancer, please remember that many employers are more than willing to support their community and employees, if only asked! Ask them!!!

Also, this is a great way to show support of your dancer through some "well wishes" from mom, dad, grandma, grandpa etc. For all thsoe First Feis participants wish your dancer good luck, by sending a message and photo, and have a keepsake to remember their first feis for years to come. Also for all those missing the feis due to Holy Communions, this is a great opportunity for you to send well wishes to your class mates and the school, in lieu of your attendance.

Please contact Karen Gleason at kgleason@jpaltd.com or 630-832-5228 and she will be happy to help anyone who needs assistance pulling ads, art, etc together.

Dear MHOB Families,

As you are all aware our school hosts two feisanna every year, that are well respected and known throughout North America for being well run and efficient. That reputation has been earned through the collective dedication and hard work of the MHoB Families.

As the feis quickly approaches, we are in need of your assistance. Presently, we still need volunteers to work Friday, May 2nd, at Registration, Stage Construction, Stage Painting, Vendor Set Up and Signs.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and May 4th, we need volunteers for the following:
Stage Tear Down
Refresh and Clean Up
Stage Assistants
Stage Runners
Awards and Results
Tabulation
First Aid

This year we have an online system that you can access via our homepage http://www.mullanehealyobrien.com. We will also be putting sign up sheets up in the Elmhurst and Northside studios this week.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours truly,

Gary Healy

We need your help, please.

The Spring Feis has been known as the “Best in the Midwest” mainly because of the Academy's cooperative parents that volunteered their time and efforts in the past. We need to make sure that the standard that has been set in the past, continues into the future.

Therefore, we are asking all families that have registered for the Feis to sign up for at least one shift over the weekend. All other non-participating families are encouraged to help out as well. Volunteers are needed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The volunteer sign-up link is on the MHOB Feis page located on our website. Please complete and a confirmation email will be sent in return from the Volunteer Coordinator.

Also, if you wish to take an ad or wish your dancer luck in the MHOB program book- the forms can be found on the web site as well.

Your support and cooperation is appreciated.

Thank you,

The MHOB Teaching Staff

From looking at the competitor list for the upcoming MHoB Feis, I see a number of competitive dancers are still not entered for this Feis. I know that many of you were on teams for the Worlds and were quite busy with that, but please don't delay any further and submit your entry for the Feis this week.

Also, for our new dancers and beginners - the MHoB Booster Club and assistant teachers will be available to help you before the Feis and on the day of the Feis - so that it is a pleasant experience for you and your dancer. All First Feis dancers will receive medals, so we encourage you to take advantage of our Feis and enter your dancer today.

All registration can be done through www.efeis.com .

Dear Mary Alice,

First of all, I hope I am sending this message to the right person. Mariana Gutierrez (Hanover Township) has recommended some of your students for an exhibition dance at our International Family Fest event which will take place May 9th at the Ridge Circle School. We want to raise funds for school materials and have planned for some 12 countries to be represented. We have a dance school whose students will present some Traditional Mexican Folkloric dances and a Musical Ensemble who will play some beautiful music tradtional in Spain. We would love to have Ireland and Scotland represented not only in food, arts and crafts, but also in music and dance. I was told that you presented exhibitional dances as well. Please let me know if this is possible.

Thank you,
Mila Levitt

In light that our school will not be competing at the North American Nationals this year, and that we have a lot of dancers coming off suspension in late May, early June, we would like to organize a feis that the whole school could attend during the summer, and make a school outing, and organize a coach to leave from the studio(s). We would like as many of our students to sign up for the feis, and support our new MHoB students at the first feis.

We have chosen the Madison Feis, 2008, which will take place on June 7, 2008. For additional information, please visit www.madisonfeis.com. Entries are now being accepted through www.feisworx.com. Please sign up as soon as possible

Good job to all of the dancers who performed at Gaelic Park Thursday night. It was alot of fun. Although there's two northside parades going on, will there be practice at Gaelic Park on Saturday?

As most of you are aware, we will be hosting the Mullane-Healy-O'Brien Feis, on May 3rd and 4th, 2008 at the Benedictine University, Lisle, IL.

Many of our own MHoB students have not registered with the feis. It is imperative that you enter the feis, so we can do an accurate order on the medals and trophies etc. If you have not done so, please complete your registration via http://www.efeis.com

Thank you,

Gary Healy

Heres some info for dancers going to Belfast who have never been before. You will need to get Northern Ireland Stirling for use in Belfast. If you are planning to go anywhere in the south like Dublin you will also need Euro. I recommend you get it before you leave as some banks will be closed Easter weekend. If you have an American Express card you can get Stirling and Euro at the American Express store downtown. If you keep the receipt they will also buy back any money you didn't use (not very likely!)
