Date Posted: 20:38:57 06/23/05 Thu In reply to: Lucky 's message, "I'll stick with Wednesday" on 20:09:12 06/21/05 Tue Thank you for your comment. If you really think Wednesday, then it would be 4 nights. Jesus did not specifically say, "three FULL days". However He did say "THREE NIGHTS". He died on the day of preparation...when all the other Passover Lambs were being slain in Jerusalem...which makes sense since Jesus is the Lamb of God. He rose again Sunday morning...before daybreak..Rising again on Sunday morning....before dawn. Remember the "Three nights" part is the key to understanding the day in which Jesus was crucified. Matt 28:1-6 "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre...." The Greek word for "dawn" here means "grow light." It would not be getting light out on Saturday evening, just the opposite. If Jesus did die on Wednesday night, then He would have been in the grave four nights. Jesus Died on Thursday Buried on Thursday .. in the grave already on thursday night = 1 night In Tomb all day on Friday and Friday night = 2 nights All day Saturday and then Saturday night= 3 nights See our article on the subject: Did Jesus Die On Wednesday or Thursday? May the Lord richly bless you! Cobblestone Road Ministries ________________________________________________________ >Where as you can get 3 full nights if you assume that >Jesus died and was buried on a thursday, you cannot >get 3 full days. >If he died about 3pm on thursday: >Thursday night = 1 night >friday = full day + 1 night >saturday = fullday = 1 night >He rose early on sunday morning >total = 2 days and 3 nights. >I'll say a wednesday death and burial gives more >accuracy.
