Subject: Monkey Island 5 - 7th July 2009

THE news that made my decade:

Monkey Island 5 comes out July 7th this year (less than a month away) on PC and Wii. Its called Tales From Monkey Island and its to be episodic like the Sam & Max seasons. There will be 5 episodes to it.

The Following is nicked from wikipedia:
Tales of Monkey Island is set several years after Escape From Monkey Island,[4] following the elusive Monkey Island 5.[3] The game features the return of several staple characters of the series. Guybrush Threepwood once again finds that his nemesis, the zombie pirate LeChuck, has kidnapped his wife, Governor Elaine Marley. After seeking advice from his old friend the Voodoo Lady, Guybrush pursues LeChuck with the Cursed Cutlass Kaflu, which potentially can finish LeChuck once and for all.[4] However, Guybrush accidentally breaks the cutlass and is forced to create a stand-in; when he finally stabs LeChuck, the replacement cutlass instead transforms LeChuck into a human and infects Guybrush's hand with the "Pox of LeChuck".[4] A resulting explosion on the ship hurls Guybrush into the ocean, and he later washes up on Flotsam Island.[4] Guybrush must now reverse the damage caused by the rapidly spreading pox he has unleashed, which is turning pirates into zombie-like monsters.[5]

NOT ONLY that:

But there is also an enhanced Remake of the Secret of Monkey Island coming out too.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is an enhanced remake of The Secret of Monkey Island for the PC and Xbox Live Arcade, developed internally by LucasArts and set to be released in 2009. The remake was announced on the first day of the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo along with the episodic Tales of Monkey Island. [12]

The Special Edition features new character art and hand-painted environments in the style of the original, presented in 1080i widescreen (1920 x 1080 resolution).[13][14] It also features a re-recorded and re-mastered score, and the principal voice artists from The Curse of Monkey Island read the previously unspoken lines, with Dominic Armato as Guybrush, Alexandra Boyd as Elaine, and Earl Boen as LeChuck.[15]

The interface itself is streamlined, hiding the verb table and inventory that previously took up the lower part of the screen. These, including the nine-option verb table from the enhanced editions of the game, can be pulled up as a menu, while verbs can also be selected by cycling through pre-set commands.[14] Another new feature is the three-level hint system, which (at the third level) presents a bright yellow arrow showing the player where to go.[14]

The developers also added a close-up of Spiffy, the dog in the Scumm Bar, that was deleted from the original versions due to space considerations, despite appearing on the back of the box.[16]

It is possible to switch between the updated version and the 256-color enhanced version of the game at any point during gameplay.[13]

HOLY SHIT!!!!
