There's definitely a lot of perks dating an NHL player. He's a fan favorite in the city he plays in so people were constantly giving him free things. We got the best tables at restaraunts and never had to wait. People are always willing to help out with whatever it is we're buying. Like, when we got our new cars we got a really great deal. It was also pretty hard too because we had puck bunnies to deal with and people who INSIST on knowing EVERYTHING you do ALL the time. Girls, puck bunnies especially, were mean/rude/bitchy to me because of who my boyfriend was and automatically assumed I was a bitch/skank/stupid/easy. Most fans were very nice and friendly and respectful. He had no sense of anonymity. He was always approached whenever we went out. The first year of relationship was long-distance. I went up to see him whenever he was at home for more than five days at a time. During the off-season going into the second year of us dating I got really lucky and got a very good job up where he played so we moved in together. We spent as much free time together as we could. If he wasn't at practice, he was at a game or on the road or doing something for the team. Going to the games were great. His team had some younger players, so, their girlfriends and wives were around my age. Which was really nice. It's really important to be able to get along with the other girls. They become your best friends because they know what you're going through and because they, too, are going through the same things. The reason we're not together right now is because I wasn't happy with my job up there and I missed my family. So, I moved back and we decided it was better if we just took some time off for now. I've got things I need to accomplish before settling down. But we're still very close. We talk at least a few times everyweek. Neither of us is seeing anyone at the moment. And we hang out during the season whenever his team is doing a west coast swing. And we'll probably see each other a lot this summer. In fact, we just got back from San Francisco/San Jose. He has a friend that plays for the Sharks so we caught Game 1.

Anyway, I hope that answered your question Katie. If anyone has any other questions about us or anything in particular, just ask. :) Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far. :)
