J--

If the vast majority of the posted writing on your Oct. Earth is non-fiction and sort of argumentative (even if poorly or superficially argued, lie Firsty's "Anger. Bad."), and no one is writing little dialogue pieces or fiction, then your piece with the 1st person narrator (who does seem like you, at least as you appear in other pieces), will most likely be, if not necessarily, read as first person confessional, i.e diary entry.

You put up essay prompts which seem to ask for non-fictional and argumentative responses, and most everyone does indeed post non-fictional, argumentative responses (though poorly argued mostly), but one upstart crow (you) posts some strange first-person narrative, which has little or no direct relation to the prompt.

It is poor logic on your part if you believe readers will respond to your creations or judge them as creative writing, not to say fiction, when all the other pieces are first-person non-fiction. The connection of the essay (to the black/white/grey prompt) is tenuous to say the least. But most of the prompts are pretty lame as well--the ones drawing on specific instances and politics producing the better writing (1st & 2nd prompts were best).

You guys are all over the place. As was the old LitKicks. You can't do everything--and yet you assume you are going to get some cyber-Joyce to come in and write the final word on lit. or politics or existentialism? You think a Pynchon or Derrida will log in and give y'all the Truth?

You want the Truth? You can't HANDLE the truth.
