Vicki cleared away all of her grandmother's things in the room in a whirlwind of dust with her red hair floating around her shoulders like a fiery cloud. Once Martin had all the boxes up in the attic, she sat on the bed and let loose a long breath. "Sorry Gram." She whispered again. Then stood and left the room, softly closing the door behind her. No longer did it belong to the old woman, but now was Martin and Vicki's. She walked past her and Ryan's old rooms without glancing at them and went down stairs. There was still a lot of stuff to fix and clean and pack away. But hunger was starting to get to her and she was ready for a distraction.

Vicki looked down in her hand and realized the silver comb was still in it. She pressed it to her heart then ran it through her hair a few times before slipping it carefully in her pocket. It was one thing she would never pack away. "Ready hero?" She called, standing near the door. A smile started to melt away the gloom the house had brought. Well, She thought. Once we get it fixed up... it won't be so bad. Her stomach grumbled and she laughed. "Hurry before my stomach decides to eat me!"
