Too long has time delayed
for you to be revealed
the sorrow of youthful years.

The city became livid in the wind
and a rainbow fell into the dance
of blissful reflections:
you were in the thoughtful ticking
of a circle on my wrist
among the turned pages
a flood of sunlight,
an indolence of bright suburbs
quickly drawn into a face
so thoroughly scanned,
but a shining eye, a feverish touch.

Light shadows came-what do you
bring, what do you offer?... -I smiled
at my friends,
they vanished, into sadness
vanished the bend upon the road.
Behind fleeting wheels
an ashen summer withered
the poppies in the meadows.

But if you no longer are
and even heaven is conquered
I am a stunted glimmer,
a voice superfluous in the choir.
