There was a sad kind of smile on Emi's face as she strode into the doors of the palace. It wasn't her palace, it wasn't even truely her home. She pulled a sword off the wall. It was light, delicate, lethal. It was one of the special Icewind swords of which they had few left.

She turned from the wall and offered the sword hilt first to her father who wasn't her father.

"No, I am alone."

Still that sad smile held, as though a form of resignation toward the truth she so deeply believed was real.
