Several hours after Emillia had given her the small gem, Tyrsis opened her hand and looked at it for possibly the twelth time in that hour. If she did what she intended, things would be as they should have been before Impazel had caused his problems.

If she did what she had intended, there would be Escalvone in the world to hunt her again. To banish her and outcast her.

And yet, what Impazael had done was wrong. He had killed a people shamelessly because he had thought their gifts a threat to him. He had thought their gift might be Forbiddion. A small voice in her head nagged that perhaps a portion of it might have once been.

Might have.

Golden eyes closed and she leaned her head forward, dark curls falling across her face as her lips murmered very softly at the little peice of rock that was such a gift. A gift Tyrsis had cried long ago to save someone who had saved her. She thought of him as she whispered. It was what he would have done, despite the consequences that would effect her personally.

Somewhere, Damuthca Escalvone was taking what would feel like his first waking breath. Thousands of other Escalvone would be doing likewise, eyes opening onto a fresher world than the one they had left. Devoid of humans, but complete with the Dragon.

The gem's fire faded.
