The rain had ceased, just like that. no one knew where the water went, or how it was even possible. Wisps of water evaporated under the sun, seeking release back into the air. But the feeling of unease did not lift from the city. There were still dark eyes in the shadows. Watching, waiting. Perfect mirrors, they walked freely.

The choir echoed in the distance, a dark folding sound onto the ears of those who heard it. Ears that had never heard it before, and the very sound of that ghostly echo stirred fear and dread. And no one knew why. Just the eerie sound of it quickened ones heart beat, and made the adrenaline rush. It's echo was near as maddening as its twin, its twin of destruction.

But even echoes, sooner or later, fade away.
