Subject: EVERYONE - BREEDS Author: Kate [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 14:48:51 12/30/02 Mon Look, these new and old breeds are wonderfully interesting and creative... et cetera, et cetera, but it's becoming TOO much. Would every founder of each breed please reply to this with the information of your breed including the powers and all that. And please tell any founders you know to come here and do this. First of all. We're reorganizing. By "we" I mean Fran and I have talked this over, but have not yet verified this with Sarah and Lizzy - by the way, everyone, Lizzy's back... so everyone should give her a warm welcoming - but will continue nevertheless. By "reorganizing" I mean that we have decided that the dragon section has gone distinctly down since it first began. The all-powerful breeds are over the top, and the "regular" dragons are slowly disappearing. What we, Fran and I, were thinking is that it would be better if the special breeds were put all into one part of the dragon section, and so though they would not have to always live there, that part would be where they can use all their crazy breed powers. The consequence, though, would be that the breeds would not be able to use their "innate" powers outside of the specific place. Upon coming here, to the main part, they would be unable to use anything but what they earned in the Ordeal. So, while in that specified place they could be at their ease without the usual earn-the-power rule, the normal dragon section would be ruled by those who run the Ordeal, who would approve small breed powers, and the usual rulers. Now, this place would be ruled by one dragon(ess) or two, and will basically oversee everything and periodically report to the normal dragon rulers. We have a specific couple in mind, but are open for suggestions. To keep track of the breeds, the information will be put on a separate, permanent page for viewing, and the characters in each breed will be put under the breed with their own personal powers. Well then, I'm sorry for indirectly stealing it. It turns out that there is one thing I forgot to mention. Can we PLEASE slow down on the breeds? If people keep making them, and making them, and making them, then there won't be enough players to go around and it's gonna start getting redundant. The problem is that while you were trying to fix it, the situation wasn't being fixed. No offense meant, and I'm not and was never intending to yell at you in any way, but Raistlin was really the main cause for concern. You did a great job with Everdark, but it turned out to be not exactly what we needed. The main problem is not where the breeds are, but the breeds themselves. They're rapidly producing, and each new one is even more powerful and godlike and, as you said in quotes, "immortal". While it can be interesting, the breeds are becoming more and more invincible, and it will, I personally believe, become more and more boring for the players who play the regular dragons. Anyways. What we were thinking, Fran and I, was that instead of having a "breed" dragon watching for the breeds, we'd have an everyday, normal dragon with one or two powers. Another thing. Powers. Do you make up powers for Raistlin as you go along, Dawn? Because sometimes it seems like he has everything. Again - I don't mean that as offensive, it's just an observation. What I think should probably happen is that those, like F&B, who run the Ordeal will pick the one power that each dragon of the many breeds can use outside of Everdark or whatever place we choose. Everdark is probably the most active tt since the new breeds started showing up. I have been here (CM) ever since the dragon section was on geocities... And I finally got a little bit of diplomacy and I intend on keeping it, no offense to either of you. I make detailed, long and descriptive posts as well as great stats for all of my dragons... I have a creative mind, of which I made the Shadows - Yes they are powerful. But they are restrained. And with Raistlin, he has earned his powers - He defeated F&B (without shifting forms and such - I dont cheat) and earned telekinesis as well as a side form of the mercury dragon. Shadow dragons gain 2 powers - Raistlin has one and never took the second one. He has magic, and he takes a toll whenever he uses it outside of Everdark... Raistlin will be alive and well for quite some time - He's my baby. As "immortal" I simply use it for its third meaning: Difference. Yes, you plotted it all with the players before hand, but does he have the power to bring dragons/creatures/whatever back to life? I really don't think that matters in the scheme of things, though I compliment your vigor in keeping that little bit of diplomacy. When I started I guess I got a bit overboard. It happens to everyone once and a while and I guess it was just my day. I did create the new breed called the Flaris, and am one of the two caretakers to the Gaias' since Mandy left. I also own two Dark TT's and one Light TT within the Dragon realm. One top of this, I play over 25 dragons, and am active with all of them. Making new breeds is an awesome idea and keeps up creativity as long as you don't go overboard. I think that certain information should be required for one to make new breeds, on top of the very simple fact that NO dragon can be invincible. Any dragon can die, and every new breed should have to have weaknesses along with limits to their powers. I have done all of this with my Flaris because it is no fun to play an invincible dragon. You quickly loose interest and the dragon section just ends up with one more inactive dragon. I think Kate, Fran, Lizzy, and P. Sarah should ordain someone to be in charge of okaying new breeds. I for one am happy to volunteer my help. OOC fighting isn't helping us or getting us anywhere. We should take the Mounatins' of Morning and simply do as we have already started. There should be the Lights', the Darks', and a link that maybe we could call The Immortals. I don't use the word immortals in reference to them not being able to die, but as DaWn uses it to mean different and more powerful than the original Westerns', Pernese, Sea Serpents', and Easterns' which you would find in the regular Light and Dark sections. The Underworld seems to be disappearing so maybe we should take that down for now. As for how to set up the "NEW SECTION", I believe each new breed should have their own land or TT, specially made so that that breed can live comfortably. It would have a seperate sneaking, challenging, and breeding section, as well as a seperate joining area with info on each breed and who to contact in order to play one. As I mentioned before, I would be more than happy to create this new section, just let me know if you want my help. I agree with Chrissy - Give all the other breeds their own lands if you want to keep them separate from the rest of the "regular dragons." In my honest opinion, I would start classifying them with their true names: Western, Eastern, Pernese, serpent, drake, flame, cloud, mist, etc... Instead of it has wings and legs - That would make it seem like there were any regular dragons. If you need help with that taking place, I could easily make a page listing several different dragon breeds which are used in stories and such. But, I guess its up to you. I think you took it the wrong way when I mentioned diplomacy. Dont take it in the way you are... I just like to be heard, and given a little credit for what I have done. So yes... Let's be friends again. As for the resurrection with Raist - It was approved with Lizzy and Megan before hand. Sure, he could do it - All dragons could, if they wanted to. But he doesnt do it anymore, and rarely does anything different anyways - He's an old, bitter, and evil dragon... What else can I say? We are all allowed to share our opinions, as you and Fran and I have all done. I dont subject anyone to fighting, I prefer to just be peaceful with everyone that I know now since I am in a tough time. It's not that I necessarily want to keep the breeds and regular dragons separate, but what I really want to do is find a system by which they can live peacefully (with the usual plotting, etc) and not be overrun by either. I think that having every breed having their own separate voyboard, and one only for each, is a good idea. However, if a breed has only three or less members, than the voyboard should be discarded (or put away temporarily) and they should be moved to another breed's board. As to the actual main board, why don't we all have a part in it? We'll put it on a new account and a few chosen will all work on it so that everyone can be satisfied. Making breeds are awesome, Chrissy, but I think we should put a temporary limit onto making more until we get our bearings and our wants straight. We can very easily go overboard at this point, and we're standing on a very, VERY thin line. The rulership. I've rethought that, and I think that I was wrong on one point. First of all, Fran was right that we don't want the Shadows dominating over the other breeds in such a way that the other breeds can't live out their full potential. What if we put a regular dragon, and a dragon from each of the breeds - not the rulers - onto a council of "watchers". The rulers can overpower their own representative, but otherwise the Watchers have the liberty to wander all of the sub-sections of the dragon section and have the liberty to make their own opinions and act accordingly. I'm sure I'm not developing the idea correctly, but what do you guys think? Why don't we rephrase "regular" dragons? How about just dragons without actual powers that come along with their breeds? They don't all have to be western or suchlike, but they have to earn their powers. All right, my brain's dry. As for making another section i think its a great idea but i have another.....if there is a war with the lights and darks the other breeds are not aloud to get involed because they would have to much of an uperhand....but instead they should have there own wars n battles with the other stronger breeds...for wat eva reason and should keep to there own seperate section in there voy boards or wat eva. So, I hope you both are happy with that - Raist wont be here for too much longer. I still wish CM would consider true breeds instead of a two winged, four legged dragon. It just sounds a lot kewler if you say, "I'm a mist dragon. I'm a western dragon. I'm a drake. I'm a abyssal wyrm." While in THAT section (Not the Light or Dark section) but that of ALL the different breeds could use their powers their. That would even be included for Light and Dark rulers of a differnet breed like Common Sense. As for the page of breeds, I have a small one named for my most recent the EarthaFyre, a have the info for Spirits but low and behold I have NEVER made a page for the Necro's so Im gonna have to work on that. Let me suggest expages for the breed info and stuff. Chrissy, if you need any help let me know. But I also agree that the Breed Info pages are a fantastic idea. Also, on each page perhaps you should include the e-mail of the creator of the breed so then people who want to play one can ask. As for the rulers of the breed, I have my ruler for all of my breeds except for the NecroDevines. I have decided that B&C should be it seeing how CS is already Queen of the Lights. And while B&C would still stay here she would also rule her own little place in the other breeds for the Necro's. But she could only use her "special" powers there. Powers, now I know that the Ordeal grants little powers and so does the Power Board. B&C has earned the power of fire and CS earned one of ice. But I always made it distinctivly clear that the one main power of their race was telepathy. And now suddenly all these dragons can speak to each other through their mind. Since when did this happen? I always made it their "special" power and the Shadows could use it because they are..as stated.. a more perfected breed. So as far as the power of telepathy goes, would this be an inate power or a little power. I think it should be a very special earned power if at all because I made it clear that that was the Necro's distinct power besides being fighting machines. Lol.. Anyways, thats all I have to say. I was up late with my friend Jon watching amusing anime, and up early this morning to watch him leave... so I'm a bit dippy at the moment, but enough of my drivel. :-} Mmkay... -grin- To DaWn, as to innate breed-powers and things, I'll use Bob as an example. He is a Tailus dragon, a breed created by yours truly. Yes, I created a breed, but he's the only instance of it on the game and he's most certainly not a superpower because he's a Tailus. There are two kinds of Taili (plural of Tailus), Air Taili and Water Taili, and each specific dragon of that breed is born as an Air, a Water or a combination thereof. Bob is primarily Air but also has gills. Does anyone remember the little board where you used to be able to get dinky innate breed-powers approved? That's where Bob got his mini-ability to alter windcurrents slightly, ie create updrafts et cetera. Other than that, the only thing that makes Bob 'Air' primarily is his physical traits: long, agile wings, a small but powerful frame, and his sharp senses and excellent agility. In my ideal world, that's how all dragon breeds on this game would work except for a few super-powers. But I'm going to be good, diplomatic little girl. :-} Just as something of an aside to DaWn that no one else need read unless they feel like it: I love Raistlin as a character, I think he's very cleverly-played and extremely believable in his own way. But, DaWn.... he is undefeatable to an extent. Bob's fought him once or twice, and he has diamond-encrusted wings, the power of the Mind (you told me he had it all-encompassing, that he'd taken it as his second Shadow power for use only in Everdark), the power of Magic, and his many forms all of which have their own innate powers/advantages etc. Please don't take this the wrong way. :-} I like you as a player and him in a way as a very cleverly-created and played character, but I do believe that in relation to so-called 'normal' dragons like Bob, he's overmuch. I would babble on endlessly some more but I basically just would be saying, "I agree with you, and then this and that and the other," so I'll spare you that, go have lunch, make sure I'm done packing, and then get on the plane. Anyways, it was just a question as Pedro, like Tarquin, is the son of the late Osiris - who I was led to believe was Shadow, or something like that. But... but... if you take Raistlin away, who will we be able to lay all the blame on??!! You simply can't take him away! You can't! You can't! Besides, I look around in Everdark every once and a while, and his heirs seem to be worse than him. Frankly, I think I'd rather if you stuck with him as the Shadow Lord. Also, to expand upon Lyss' idea, why don't we say that after Raistlin brought back two dragons to life an extraordinary gift was placed upon the Shadows? The gift was that those chosen to bear the gift by Raistlin could bring dragons back to the dead. But, they have to trade their life for such a thing to take place. [That was all written last night before Sarah and Fran decided to show up... so, continuing....] Let's see... oh yes, all right, "true" breeds. Whatever, fine, yadda yadda. I dont remember how anything happened with Bob and Raist. For one, Raist was a lot older than Bob... Experience was key. But, they've always been encrusted, but to invisible... I dont know about Raist yet - I dont want to switch him, I like him the way he is. He doesnt do anything wrong... lol... He's just an odd character compared to a lot of other dragons in CM. Horny dragon, I say... It must be all the testosterone. Expage is bad, I agree... So yeah, thats my idea for that. And of course the cursed voy forums About Pedro, I would need his stats - He's related to Osiris, he wouldnt be a Pure (since Osiris wasnt) but I dont see why not.
