Subject: The Body

Being an independent person, it's very easy to get into the monotonous rut of doing your own thing. I know full well how easily we can get caught up in the events of our own lives. Going about life with little regards to others sorrows, doubts, fears, cares and needs. It's absolutely critical that we take time out of our 'busy' days and just listen to people. Talk to them, laugh with them, cry with them and just be there for them. Learn about the things they hold closest to their hearts. Their cares of today, worries of tomorrow. During these times we not only draw close to people and build them up, but we truly learn who we are.

Consider this example: Your friend is driving their car down University Drive at 50mph, when their steering wheel falls off. Obviously, it won't take them too long to figure out that this is a huge problem and certainly it won't be long before they crash into something. Thus, rendering their car useless. Normally, this is not something we pay too much attention to (I don't know anyone who checks to see if their steering wheel is securely in place before driving somewhere). However, had they taken the time to do so, they would have learned something about the condition of their vehicle. Specifically, even though the steering wheel is not a major part of the vehicle; it is a part and it's vital to the overall condition of the car.

The apostle Paul puts it like this*:

"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body. We are all parts of his one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others."
Romans 12:4-5 NLT

"We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all...As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love."
Ephesians 4: 4-6, 16b NLT

"So accept (with the attitude of Christ, v5) each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified."
Romans 15: 7 NLT

Therefore, as we leave to go back to our respective homes, let us discard anything that is not of Christ. Meaning, put to death anything that hinders you from having the mind of Christ. Any falsehoods, sin, egos, hurt, pain, fear, attitudes, immaturity, busyness and the likes. Instead put on a gown of love, authenticity, passion, confidence, humility, Godly wisdom and patience. Carry one another's burdens. Romans 12:15-16a. "When God's children are in need, be the one to help them out." Romans 12:13. "Don't just pretend that you love others. Really love them...Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." Romans 12:9-10. Encourage one another.

I emphatically impel you to live a "life worthy of your calling". (Ephesians 4:1). Do not let this be another summer, month, or day where you just sit back and let life pass you buy. Get serious about your faith, Get serious about showing love, Get serious about Jesus. Be about God's business. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing else.

Take Care. Continue to grow in Christ's love. For He is love.

Your Brother in Christ,

Kenny B

Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters. Galatians 6:10

* Which is far better and I'm sure less confusing than my car example. Sorry.
