This confusion and agitation surrounding the infamous cartoon on Muhammed interests me greatly. The proscription against depicting human persons (or anything really) is not even in the Koran (which I happen to have slogged my way through for the purposes of greater CANING) but only in the Hadith a collection of 'sayings' mostly recorded by the slave women (nuff said) of the above exile/religious leader and concerns such great tidings as a the wacky menstrual goings on of his harem and the cleaning off of his 'spendings' from his garments 'which thereafter glistened in the sunlight'.....great stuff. All of which goes to show what happens when desert bumpkins get all fired up with ideas above their station, still what can you expect from a culture that official designates hardwriting as the ultimate artform?
I can't help but wonder what capers they'll get up to next.
