Summer of '39

put troops into poland,
took the short cut round the maginot line,
the hakken cruz flew on the eiffel tower
it was the summer of '39.

me and some guys on the far right
started movements and we tried real hard.
franco quit mussolini got captured,
should have known we'd never get far.

oh and when i look back now,
i thought those days would last for ever,
and when i spoke to chamberlain,
i knew that it was now or never.
those were the best days of the reich.

sent von ribbentrop to moscow,
pulled the wool over stalin's eyes.
heavy water plants in norway,
oh my what a great suprise.

standing in the eagle's nest,
i told you that i'd never forget you
but if you're the sort who won't eat pork
you'd better hpoe that my boys don't get you.
those were the best days of the reich.

now im sitting in a berlin bunker.
trying to figure out what went wrong.
fucked up operation barbarossa
my supply lines were much too long.

standing on the volga's banks
moscow beckoned me to come and get her.
but i really wanted stalingrad,
looking back, i should have know better
those were the best days of the reich.

enough, ok
