Subject: Lake family of Chawleigh, Cheldon, Wembworthy & Chulmleigh

I am interested in corresponding with anyone who has information about the Lake family of Chawleigh descended from Elisha Lake b. 1766 and Ursula Skinner Lake and their sons, William, John and Thomas. The Lakes were farmers, stone masons and plasterers in the Chawleigh area for generations. Other families related to the Lakes of Chawleigh are Grinney, Edworthy (Chawleigh inkeepers), Skinner, Cole, Crook and possibly Rogerman and More.

It isn't necessary to have documented information. Family oral histories for any of the above families are fine and very welcome. It may also be possible that other members of our family come from Wembworthy and South Molton and several documented members were born in Cheldon.

Inquiries are encouraged and I am willing to share genealogical information with others.
