The brute entered the jaws of the gold and ebony cave, a flicker of remembrance intriguing a small smile to latch onto his maw. Then, it flitted away, along with the light. Cloacked in ashen shadows, he made himself comfortable in the blackness of his home. Silent, he awaited to arrival of the ebon 'ness, Vassnti...

Vixen entered into the cavern after the brute, though she did not immediately return to her three-dimentional state. She loved her shadows, and was often loath to leave them. But she stood to learn much more about this brute if she regained her other state, so such was done. The shadows seemed to melt from her, sleek ebon form revealed. Icy blue and ivory white pupils found themselves upon Ethra'Kaal, silver slitted pupils dialated in the darkness. Her black diamond heartstone shimmered slightly, then went back to being nearly unnoticable. The vixen sat down before the brute, ivory talons at odds with the rest of her body. However, they were quickly covered with her black tail as it wrapped about her legs, hiding the off-color from view.
So Ethra'Kaal...is there anything else that holds your interest, or is it "the survival and strengthening of Everdark"?
A dark brow was raised in a questioning manner, the vixen's dial tilting to the right some. It gave her the air of curiosity, maybe even innocence. And though "innocent" was part of her given name, she was far from it. She had little doubt that most thought her far from it, so it wasn't as though she was trying to come off as such. Beauty's gaze continued to rest upon the male, her interest in his answer evident in her ethreal facade...

The brute chuckled slightly at her question and bopped his dial slightly. The laughter ceased and he returned to what seemed like a void entity. Thoughtful, for a shere moment, he replied.
The survival and strengthening of myself.
A curled smile reached the drakes maw once again, and he fell silent. Ah, yes, if only she had known him before. What a shock he would be... This was not the drake the shadows had known sometime again. But they welcomed the change...

A wicked grin broke out upon the dark beauty's face, pearly dagger visible. Well, wasn't he a bit of a smart aleck? At least she had gotten him to laugh. She had to admit the deep sound had been quite intriguing. He seemed to be a very private individual, which only spurred her all the more to find out every little detail about him that she could. Maw had opened to allow speech forth once again, but slowly closed as his thoughts reached her. Had he changed so much he truly believed the shadows did not recognize him for what he once had been? To confuse the shadows so would be very difficult indeed to accomplish. Yet he seemed to think he had done such.
Have you so changed in such a short amount of time that you truly feel that the shadows no longer recognize you for what you once were?
Now she was immensely curious in his response, maybe more so than she had been the last time. She loved her shadows dearly, and anything having to do with him she found of great interest. In her enthusiasm to hear his answer, the vix actually arched her slender neck towards him some, dial still tilted slightly to one side. If one did not know better one might think she had something else in mind, but kissing this brute was far from her mind. No, she wasn't a silly little vixen aiming to get laid by the Heir to Everdark. Befriending him was a possibility, but getting past his cloak and getting to know the mysterious Heir for who he really was was first and foremost on her list right now...

The brute eyed her carefully once again, studying her. She was definately interested, but to what extent and for what reason. She was so intune with her nature he was almost wary of her, for her nature was his own, and he was not one to be known, or read. Picking and choosing his words, he responded.
Any amount of time can alter a being, the period does not matter. As for the extreme nature of my change, yes I believe the greater powers of this realm have forgotten the drakling I once was. As strange as it sounds, the reach of darkness is not endless... There are ways to progress without that knowledge of growth being revealed. When I returned, I was not welcomed as a returning prince, but regarded warily until my bloodline was evident once again.
He smirked once again, this time an air of bitterness infected the expression.
You tell me, Vassnti, if you are not welcomed as you should be, but instead with confusion, fear, has one succeded in confusing the shadows of his nature or being? Or perhaps I was simply mistaken...
He doubted it. And to tell a son of Raistlin he was wrong was not a wise thing to do. Even if that son was controlled, calm and smooth. And even if the one doing the telling was as enchanting as the beauty before him...

Vixen's auds were attuned very carefully to the brute's words. So, he too had fooled the shadows with his change? Had spread fear and discord? She could not say she could disagree with him on his words though he seemed to half expect her to. She couldn't disagree with him when she had seen with her own eyes the same evidence of what he spoke. Of course, he had seemed to change in a shorter period of time which had confused the shadows differently than she had seen them confused once before, but it mattered little. As he had pointed out, the time frame did not matter.
No, I understand what you mean. I've seen and heard the confusion of the shadows once before in a way similar to what you have described to me. They still ponder over you because of your secret nature, but not so much as another.
She straightened, slender neck retreating some. Dial was no longer tilted to one side, but facing the brute straight on. She seemed regal and knowledgable beyond her years at her words. Of course, she had had an almost first hand experience. The soft smile on the vixen's face faded into a frown at her thoughts. The shadows feared her sister. They despised her more than Vassnti had ever known them to despise another. The things they spoke of her were not praise. Vassnti was right there with them. She couldn't stand her half sibling. And if the shadows did not trust her, then who was there that should?

The brute nodded slightly, interest seemingly caught in the femme. He pondered her slightly, but did not need to. His born ability, telepathy, had long ago given him insight into the femora that she would probably prefer him not having. But the sister she though so unfondly of intrigued his curiousity. Softly, he prodded at the question with the curious manner of a young, but well mannered child.
And who, may I be so bold, is this other?
Calm was one with him, and he was deeply hidden from her own, if she had the ability so seek him out. He had long ago learned to block himself from the others, finding it easier that reaching out. It was a talent he was oddly good at. Optics remained intensely focused upon her own, but dial slipped to the side slightly, easing away the tension that may have been felt bewteen strangers. Easily he moved in, so fluidly that the movement was barely noticable. His tone was cool and receiving and his mind open to her thoughts. He seemed somehow less daunting, less overwhelming and more... normal. Instead of the royal drake he was. A smile met his may, hidden in the shadows for the most part. But crystalline daggers reflected prisms of black light. Calm, though he was always tembling with energy, tremors that remained unseen, he waited.

Ebon minx watched him warily for a moment. He was hiding his thoughts from her now. It only gave her all the more reason to tuck her own thoughts deep into the back of her mind. She pondered his question for a moment, deciding whether or not she wanted to answer. No doubt he would find out soon enough on his own. Bi-hued ooids blinked, the vixen making her decision, though it would be unknown to him until she spoke. Maw parted, pearly daggers glimmering as she spoke in a slightly detached manner.
The other would be a half sibling of mine. Why do you ask?
She fell silent, her own question now ringing throughout the cavern. The shadows moved in around her, whispering softly in her ear. Her frown deepened, her gaze narrowing. She was not pleased, though one could not detain why. Her mind was too carefully sealed now...

The brute parted his maw into a darkened smile. He shook his head slightly, as if to disagree with some action or thought. Detached, his form was relative to all darkness. And his mind, even if it could be read, was equally detached. Apparently, Onyx's return had not effected him as little as he would have liked it too.
You have no reason to distrust me Vassnti, I intend you no harm. And will do my best to ensure that none comes to you, mistress of Everdark.
He chuckled softly, and released the detached hold upon his own mind. His signature of thought cascaded upon her closed muind, for it was closed to interpretation, but open to all otehr sendings. Black rainbows traced with silver and jagged strings of golden yellow identified his thoughts as his own. He paused his mental openess and added softly, in a darkened tone with a certain secretiveness,
Curiousity killed the cat m'lady. I am grateful I am no such cat...

Her attention was currently torn between the brute before her and her beloved shadows. She only half caught his words, trying to listen to two beings at once. His interuption of thought upon her caught her offguard, the minx not paying enough attention. She felt a little off-kilter for a moment, then steadied her own thoughts and turned her attention more towards the brute than her shadows. A soft smile was given, though it was a bit distracted.
Yes, I suppose looking at it in that aspect you should be thankful you're a dragon. As far as your assurances go of my protection, I greatly appreciate them. I doubt even you are completely safe here in Everdark.
The shadows had not been pleased at her pushing them away and now crowed about her again. Their whispering had only intensified, creating a sort of buzzing in her ear. Of course, she couldn't really blame them. They were agitated at the moment and giving her numerous warnings. They also weren't too pleased that she was ignoring those warnings in order to further her conversation was the brute before her...

He chuckled slightly, something soft and odd from his maw. Definitely not in perspective with his personality. Something tore rawly at his mind, something was being torn from him. Struggling to remain, he felt a shift in the deeper shadows of Everdark. A hiss escaped him involuntarily and he passed his gaze back to the femora before him. Maw dipped slightly at both edges, forming a trouble frown.
Did you feel that?
What was this? The hissing and screaming of thousands upon thousands of ancient shadows that called to him. Why could he hear them? What was this folly? He knew not their voice, nothing but their mumblings, like and old man with no teeth. Troubled deeply, he glanced at the femme, for the first time taken in oddly by her beauty. With a step forward, he brought his clawed hand to her cheek and surged slightly with her energy. When he spoke next, dual ooids were locked on hers, and his voice was barely above a dull whisper.
I am truly, deeply sorry Tsak'vassnti, but there are some things I must see too. I hope, sincerely, that we may continue this later on.
What was this? He was torn between leaving and staying. How should he depart? He knew nothing of leaving attractive damsels in his home. Perhaps he should wait... He wanted to so solidly. Yes, he would wait until she replie,d either in anger, or understanding. How he hoped for the latter...

Vassnti could hear the buzzing whispers of the shadows as they spoke to Ethra'Kaal, but the whispers they spoke to him were spoken to him alone. They shut her out, which hurt her feelings some since it was something she had rarely had them ever do. At his question, she began to shake her head and then stopped herself. She was a bit startled by his touch upon her cheek, but she didn't pull away or do anything similar to that. Auds took in his words, vixen licking her lips.
I don't know what the shadows are speaking to you, but I understand you need to leave. They speak to me at the moment as well. Warnings I should heed. We can continue our conversation later. It would be easier for both of us.
Vixen of amazing beauty smiled in a seductive manner, her own ivory taloned hand reaching up to caress the hand he held against her cheek. Little electric-like surges ran through her veins, causing bi-hued ooids to narrow some. It had not been something she had expected, but she would worry about what it all meant later on. Her hand dropped away, a curt nod of her dial given as the shadows closed in around her. The darkness caressed her matching hide, the minx melting into her 2-D form. Ivory and pale blue ooids were all that was seen now, then the minx seemed to disappear altogether from sight...
