Date Posted: 11:44:21 03/17/05 Thu In reply to: dave 's message, "I recommend starting with a more realistic number" on 10:39:33 03/17/05 Thu All this writing about food makes me hungry. Ken Wilbur, the author of One Taste (the book, not that place that has sex workshops and vegan muffins) writes something to the effect that the whole is more than the sum of it's parts, or that the holon includes all the parts but also transcends them. Or somethin' like that. I never quite understood it. How does this relate to pizza and tofu banana cream pie? Um, not sure. But if a group has a pizza and is present to the optimal amount for each to have, the pieces can be divided in just the right proportion for full satisfaction. As for banana cream pie, better to just feed each other and be as messy as possible so that you will have to lick the cream off of each part that makes up the whole. Each point of the pizza comes together at one point in the center, one collective point where someone can take One Taste, or many tastes. We all started out as something like (odorous) banana cream pie lava churning within the earth, and separateness is, in a sense, just an illusion. Time for lunch. PS: Why the "vs." between the "100" and "1"? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
