What's in a kiss?

I don't know where to put my hand. I'd like to shape my fingers and palm over the curve at the base of his neck, but I hesitate. I'm afraid I will reveal too much if I place my hand where it wants to go.

I lean forward. I have a target, the center of his left cheek, the facial maxillary bone. I approach and the space between my lips and his cheek grow smaller. I close my eyes. I summon my heart and release it.

I'm lost in the kiss. I forget where I am and to whom this cheek belongs.

I awake from the dream and pull back. Blood rushes to my face as I consider what I've done.

His hand reaches for my back. I can feel the span of his fingers, from the littlest to the thumb, all gently digging into my muscles. His touch feels good, an acknowledgement of the intimacy that has passed between two strangers.
