Subject: Making a tail vise

Making a tail vise requires an acme screw and nut, along with some metalwork. The screws are on the expensive side and have to be ordered since no one in Indpls seems to carry them. It occurred to me that I could probably pick one up off the curb on trash day in the form of a broken $20 office swivel chair. An iron pipe 'T' on the end mounts a handle and away you go. While the screw in those chairs isn't very long, I think it should suffice for most hobby work that goes on in my shop.

Any thoughts on the subject?
