Alone in the filthy ruins, the creature's tired eyes look to the soulless stars. The winter wind steals away the last traces of warmth. A shadow stirs in the wreakage . A glimpse in the last standing tower. One last spark of hope drives the hag to its feet. Hands held out to crumbling stones to steady thier owners. Labored breath echos through the ghost of the towes stairs. The climb building fleeting heat in the moment. Up and up and then the top. Absolute cold screaming across a sumit unprotected by a roof and walls long absent. There, beyond the floor, the figure stands. As it turns, it makes itself known. The pallid, near skeletal visage belie its name. The darkest unfallen angel. The embodiment of inevitability. Once feared, but in this moment, a diety of promise. The promise of rest and respite. The earth below calls out for its far too long lost lover.
