Subject: Steve Jobs

When I read the news of his passing, it was awhile before the mist cleared from my eyes.

My two cents on the man:

In every war, there is a handful of men who are the cutting edge of the entire advancing army; they carry the weight of most of the hard fighting. They are men whose frontline bravery and point-blank will are the light that everyone else follows and emulates to make victory possible. It is the same in art, literature, science and... technology. Steve Jobs is one of those war-hero-like visionaries with a renaissance heart who melded art and technology with function and utility. You tell me... who has done it better? Who's following who now? Like Leonardo or Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs has tangibly changed the world. It will be a hundred years or so before we see another conquistador genius like him.

You might hear a lot of nay-sayers poo-pooing Apple and what it has done, but those people are best left babbling to themselves. I'll listen when I see them make something better.
