Jeff P. Luke, 83, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at his residence. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Barham Funeral Home in Meridian. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. James Lewis, former pastor who presided their wedding in 1991, and their Pastor Dr. Wayne Riley officiating.

Mr. Luke retired from Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph in 1980. He was an active member & Deacon of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. He donated his body to University Medical Center, Jackson for research. For many years Mr. Luke was a Breeder & Exhibitor of Paint Horses & also judged horseshows throughout the south. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting & fishing. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II, Mr. Luke was loved and will be greatly missed by Family & Friends.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Clark Luke, Meridian; daughter, Jeffrie Arnold, Castle Rock, Colo.; son, Jefferson Perry Luke, Decatur, Texas; stepson, James Norman Clark; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. John East, Meridian; brother, Andy "Jake" Luke, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Wezzie McDonald Luke, parents: J. B. & Willie Mae Luke, sister: Maxine Smith.
