Subject: Whatta day! some bad some very good...

Sleeping can be such a chore and is a lot of the time. Sometimes I get up early for infusion just for I won’t have to try to sleep. This was so this morning. The eight mile trip went very smooth. I was way early though. I was sitting out in the huge entry way where in the morning it is more of an employee lounge: hardly a seat available. I did not have to have wait long though. Amy a secretary and super person and Jackie a nice enough floor manager said they did not care if I came back to the unit so early (as others do). The practical nurse who is most often delegated to stick me a super hard stick, choose to stick another couple of patients who came in after me. My nurse tried to stick me twice… the practical nurse did get me again in the back of the hand: her favorite place but a tender place for me. Took a long time getting stuck. I did not notice my pouch filling too much… accident nasty. Then a stupid argument: stupid on my part… but turned out great… totally unexpected reward. Another nurse who likes me came in my room after I got unstuck by another nurse who I was not her patient and she really did not want to attend to me. This nurse told me even a nurse’s assistant can unstuck me. I said, “Well, if she with no more education than me can, then I can too.” The nurse started to admonish me, cut herself off, and said to me, “Richard you have been through hell in the last couple of months and gave me a big ole’ hug.” That knocked me right over. She is about 30 years of age. I think that she would go have coffee at least, I if I ask her... should I? 61, disfigured body, remnants of personality disorder... me?

A few little things did not go my way also and few things did go my way also… weird day.

I discharged from the hospital this time with home caring nursing which I thought that I did not really need. I went along with the program. This past Wednesday it was sunny and nice out after infusion. I was prepping to go to the park. My home care nurse called, I put off the visit till today and I told her I wanted to talk to her about my need for the service anyway. She came out today after infusion when all I wanted to do was sit at my computer and not be bothered about anything. It was the very, very best visit I ever had from a home care nurse… she so encouraged me to get out amongst people that I was wasting having so much to offer people. She gave me a big ole’ hug also as she left.

There are much indeed kind people in this big cruel cold world. I commended her a few times. She is one of the great ones. She so wise and compassionate for 25 – 30 years of age. I sure were not such back then.
