As all of you know, I am Native...Europeans have been "shoving" Christianity down the throats of "Natives" all over the world, without the respect and the compassion that their religion is supposed to represent. "In the name of god"...has been a cover and an excuse for the masses for centuries, and the ancient writings have been rewritten and interpretted...by a few, to fit the needs of those in power.

Native people, have always been spiritual...always believed in the strength within ones-self and the power of nature that is to be respected and cared for!

For me "god" does not cause me fear, nor does the word instill a sense of awe or respect...as the contact I have with the people who take cover under the church, has never been anything but cruel, disrespectful of others and hypocrital and contradictory to their teachings. My brothers were both, I believe, molested by "men of the church", my father, who was a very good looking child, was a child of the "residential schools" where he was physically abused as well.

I am not saying all is wrong with the beliefs of any church, I am saying, like any "society" there is those that will taint what is supposed to be good. And thus, cause the fear and the anxiety...I never believed in the saying "put the fear of god into them"...Fear is a manifestation of doubt, created by those that intimidate and bully.

I think that "fear" can be healthy, when it causes us to be more cautious with our lifestyle and actions...but can be detrimental..when is causes us to hesitate in taking a constructive step forward.

You are not alone in your fears...as doubt clouds most of our minds most days...

Most churches still do not recognize or acknowledge the beliefs of others...they will never admit that there can and should be other ways of practicing spirituality.

My two bits..thank you so much for giving me a chance to exercise my mind...MUH MUH MUH

Rhonda
