Into the fray once more. A little something for Saturday.

Four times on the trot
May seem like a lot
And at present it’s only a dream.
Though Carlos may reign
On Saints’ soggy plain
He’s not met the Maori in green.

Four times on the trot

And Saints’ Dragon-slaying’s no dream.
But we beg to suggest
That the score won’t just rest
On the boot of our Maori in green.

We have pace at the back,
An improving attack,
And a Frenchman whose play is supreme.
But for all that they please
We’ll bet your Kiwis
Have forgotten our Maori in green.

Four times on the trot
May seem like a lot
But we give it a lash, as you’ve seen.
Sure, we’ve Bishop and Dawson
Yes, Big Bob is awesome.
But we’ve also our Maori in green.

Four times on the trot
May seem like a lot
But the Irish don’t know when they’re beat.
We tackle quite well
Though we say so ourselves,
But then - so does our Maori in green.

Four times on the trot
May seem like a lot
But it’s really just one more than three.
We’re the team to surprise
With a game that defies
And a Maori whose heart is now green.

Excellent poem OR.

My favourite Saints match (apart from the Powergen final perhaps) was a November match at the Madjet a few years ago when we absolutely hammered them with a points haul of over 40. For me it was specifically memorable as I'd managed to get a stunning deal with Abigail (of LI Corporate) on one of them there fancy boxes to celebrate my birthday. Even now there is an injunction on me that prohibits me from revealing how much (or little) money changed hands.
