Subject: Madejski Hotel Reading Children Friendly.....

Reads like a search criteria for Google. But you good people know better. How kiddie friendly is the hotel next to the stadium?

If, for any reason, I completely lose my marbles next season and decide to not only go to a match but stay over at the hotel (at which point Tony Blair will resign, Mrs Thatcher will apologise for all the EVIL she is responsible for, Ireland will win the next world cup, no one will ever mention the Beckhams again and I will marry Michael Portillo), do they have intercom wotsit services whereby they can contact you if your child throws a wobbly and attempts to destroy civilization? I can ignore Joe's nocturnal singing (boy, does that child know how to warble Frere Jacques at 3am in the morning), but would be concerned if he went ballistic.

If the Madstadhotelchildintercomthingummy accomodates such a request, pray, let me know.

Isn't Miguel Portillista ALREADY married you scheming HOMEWRECKER?

Actually, an intercom service is not mentioned in the children's services section of the hotel website although babysitting is.

I can heartily recommend the hotel, having stayed there a few times, en famille.

The only problem I have ever encountered with the hotel has been on every single LI match day, when it is packed full of PISSHEADS lowering the TONE. But once they slither off back to their slums on something called "shuttle buses", IT'S FINE.

Most hotels don't do the intercom babysitting any more for health and safety reasons from what I've found as they would be 'responsible' for the little ones in the event of an emergency.

An excellent hotel for a short overnight stop but no intercom that I am aware of - mind you my two are a bit past needing one!

While not wishing to spoil a secret, because very few people know it exists and I would like to keep it that way (!), don't forget the health club and swimming pool which are free for guests. An excellent way to guarantee a night's sleep, or to recover from the excesses of the night before ... the sauna works wonders when it comes to clearing the head!
