The All-Stars Are Coming!
In an unprecedented event of musical proportions, Clear Channel Entertainment with Power 99, Charlie Mack and SEGA is having four unbelievable nights of shows at the Electric Factory in conjunction with the NBA All-Star Game.
The first concert is Thursday, February 7th and features Ludacris, Mr. Cheeks, DJ's Biz Markie and Jazzy Jeff as a part of "Will Smith and Friends." This show is hosted by Jamie Foxx. All tickets are available through Ticketmaster, starting on Saturday, January 19th.
The second and third nights features Philadelphia music superstars Jill Scott, Musiq and The Roots coming together for "The Philly All Star Concert Series," a special two-night engagement of non-stop music on Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th, 8-11PM, at the Electric Factory concert hall. The SEGA®-sponsored event on February 8th and 9th ("The Philly All-Star Concert Series") will also feature performances by fellow Philadelphia talents such as Bilal (Interscope), Jaguar Wright (Motive\MCA), Kindred (Hidden Beach), AAries (Mama's Boy\Atlantic). Hip-hop pioneer and Grammy Awardâ winner DJ Jazzy Jeff will serve as the guest DJ for both nights. Tickets for "The Philly All Star Concert Series," are $75. All tickets are available through Ticketmaster, starting on Saturday, January 19th. There is also an After-Party open to the public. Tickets are $30 in advance. Combo tickets are available for $100.
No headliners or opening acts are billed for "The Philly All Star Concert Series," which will feature three full hours of 'soul' and non-stop musical performances. This event marks the very first time that such a diverse group of musically gifted and critically acclaimed musicians have come together in their hometown to share one stage. "Our city is known across the nation as the 'City of Brotherly Love," and the artists and managers have come together collectively to offer great music, synergy and raise money for music education," says Shawn Gee (Business Manager for The Roots and Jill Scott).
The fourth and final concert is Sunday, February 10th and is called "The Old School All-Stars." This post-game show features Run DMC, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, MC Lyte, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Public Enemy, Biz Markie and Big Daddy Kane. All tickets are available through Ticketmaster, starting on Saturday, January 19th.
The jam sessions, which takes place during NBA's Annual All Star Weekend, is the first of its kind and is the brainchild of the aforementioned artists' managers; Shawn Gee, Richard Nichols (The Roots), Lyzel Williams (Jill Scott) and Mike Mac Arthur and Jerome Hipps (Musiq), respectively.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit music education programs across the country. The local media sponsor for "The Philly All Star Concert Series" is the Philadelphia City Paper. All four shows are 21 and over only.
A variety of Sega Sports video games will be available to play during this event, including some of its newest sports titles---NBA 2K2 and NFL 2K2.
