Date Posted: 13:33:51 05/15/04 Sat Before noon, my wife and I strolled to the Northeast corner of Pioneer Square, where I started to read some verses from Scripture. People walked by and heard the word of God with little interaction occurring. We left for a while, and I returned at around 1:30pm to find the Ridgefield Baptist church and another Baptist church at that corner singing hymns and preaching God's word. I rejoiced with God for their faith. They allowed me to preach for a little time as well, which brought many individuals up complaining about the preaching. The two churches were able to discuss evangelism, which eventually led to the focus of evangelism, namely Jesus Christ. The two churches left after a while, but two brothers, one named Brad, stayed behind while I continued to preach from Isaiah 53 concerning the suffering Savior of Israel, Jesus Christ. At around 3:00, I left, but soon returned at a quarter to six, where brother Phil and his company were out giving away food and hot chocolate. Many different people walked up asking questions about the Lord, wanting to know some deep information concerning the Scriptures. Two brothers came up asking about how to deal with a Christian who is unwilling to lay aside gross sin, including drug addiction. Now, the Lord earlier in the day was trying to persuade me to not be so stern and mean, but to exemplify the love, grace, compassion, and mercy of the cross upon a penitent sinner ready to receive the grace of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ: so I let them know that God wants to love the backslider, but is waiting for them to be penitent so God can bring them back into His arms of mercy. The Lord used it mightily. After a while, I started to preach the Gospel, which caused some stir among the crowd. Then, brother Phil started to preach, and people brought out drums to try to drown out his preaching. I walked down to encourage the brother to continue preaching. Then, a drunk man came up and shoved my brother and started to harass him. I wasn't going to let this opportunity for a blessing go away, so I approached the man and started to confront him on his sin and prevented him from trying to attack my other brother by engaging him in simple conversation concerning the state of his eternal soul. He kept going around in circles, with profane words spewing from his mouth and very violent eyes attempting to stare me down. Eventually, he got fed up with us and pushed me away, and also pushed away my father-in-law Paul. he retreated away, and then I started to preach from Revelation 21 concerning the new heaven and new earth. Also, another man continued to rail against us, but whenever I would attempt to tell him that he could be forgiven of his sins, he would continue to be mean, so I told him that he was a mean person, and he stopped and started to think about it. Then, some other guy came up and discussed how it was wrong to confront someone on their sin even if they are committing the sin in front of you. The discussion went well, since it eventually ended up back to the cross and the Gospel of Grace through Faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then, after blessing God for all the blessings of the evening, we returned home in favor with God as well as with favor with the kids who come out every night to hear us preach the Gospel of God's Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
