Author: Dijk Rivenwing the Lost
Subject: *With a flurry of wings and feathers, Dijk flies in again.*

*He drops to the ground with a thump, not even trying to make a good landing. Amazingly enough, he landed on his feet, but heavily, and as soon as his paws touched the ground, his knees buckled and he fell fully to the floor. He was quite a sight to see, his fur and feathers glistening with sweat, and clumps of dirt and grime sticking to his wet body. His sides heaved as he gulped in air to sooth his burning lungs. His eyes, once full of determination and life, had lost their light, and now, in it's place, a look of loss and sorrow. He was no longer the pround, bold gryphon, but now, he looked destitute and lonely. She had gone. She was gone, nowhere to be found. He had searched. Searched everywhere. . .everywhere. Never before had he flown so fast and so hard, but to no avail. Now, lying here exhausted, his fears and doubts crouded into his numbing mind. His only friend was gone. It was odd, his reaction. He had lost friends before, before he had ever come to Terole, but for some reason, he was devistated at the loss of this one. Never before had he bonded so quickly and deeply, and he couldn't fathom why. Obviously she hadn't thought much of him. . .because she was gone. His breathing calmed, and he lifted his head, a small glimmer of hope shined through the look of sorrow in his eyes. Maybe. . .maybe. Maybe there was a chance that she wasn't gone forever. That his only friend would return, and then, he could be happy again. And yet, even as these thoughts ran through his aching head, his mind wouldn't let him believe. Deep down, he knew with dark dread that Mortality wouldn't be coming back. He laid his head down again, but his eyes stayed open, searching, searching, always searching, and never to stop.*
