Subject: Advice

I have a great-great granddaughter of *Naborr. She is 5 now, is beautiful and has the look of the line. I have a herniated disc in my neck- had it for 3 years now. Somedays are good, some bad. She is not saddle broke, but I can get on her back, lunge her and do some beginner ground driving. I did teach her some halter too. I had always dreamed of showing her, but circumstances have not allowed me to do so, and my neck problems have hindered me so much. My question is what should I do? I have thought of breeding her, but I'm not sure the farm I board at can accomodate a mare and foal, and she is a small mare. I'm told she will get a bit taller and fill out, but she is petite. In addition to the cost for breeding and foaling, I'd be worried about her carrying a foal! I need some advice from other horse people. She is a wonderful friend, so even if I never showed her, or even rode her (because of my neck) it's wonderful to have her. I'm getting alot of pressure from people around me to sell her, but I don't really want to. I love her. I have worked very hard to have the relationship that I do with her. What would you do? Thanks in advance, Carrie

Have you considered letting someone else show her? You could lease/partial lease her and see how it goes with an on farm lease. Then if she does well, you could sell her foals for more. Or you could do some with her once she is seasoned and less likely to do something unexpected.

Hey don't ever give up! I did and I should have listened to my friends. I never should have sold out! I had a Cebion daughter/ Naborr granddaughter! I sold her and got married. I quit horses for fifteen years. I started showing dogs. Every time I see a pretty grey Arab I go nuts. If you sell you will hate yourself. I do! I have had disc surgery. I have neck problems as well. I give anything to get my mare back. I want another Cebion daughter or Naborr grand child so bad I coud just split. If you do sell let me know, I promise she will have a good home. Jean
