Very good first episode!

I'll agree with Dd in that the only characterisation that felt off was Angel's. I think he would be down, but he wouldn't give up just like that. However, I do like the idea that in fact what he *wasn't* prepared for, was winning. That in some way he had assumed that the fight in the alley would be his final fight. And it was nice to see Connor remind him of the all important fact, 'You've got me'.

Also, Angel's reaction to someone trying to get at him through Wesley was perfectly in character. We've seen in the past his fury when people have used Cordelia and (in the case of Lindsey) Doyle in an attempt to get at him. I could just feel his cold fury after the graveyard incident. A ghost is one thing. Actually using the body of a fallen friend is, for Angel, a nigh on unforgivable thing.

Vi and Andrew were a joy to see together. I loved their light banter, the nicknames, the talk of TV shows. I giggled like anything at Andrew's little fashion tips for Spike and Illyria. 'On you, darling, it's perfection'. LOL!

You've also got a very strong Illyria voice going. It's nice to see her able to be humerous with her rather detached form of speech without her having to appear a simpleton. On the one hand she's waxing lyrical about Ben and Jerry's. But on the other, she talks very touchingly and, most importantly, believably about her thoughts on grief and Wesley. That final scene with her and Andrew was lovely.

Anyway. Well done!
