Maybe he thinks he can convince Laura that Luke didn't love her and he thinks she'll fall into his arms.

Maybe he wants to tell her about the Rick Webber thing before she hears it from Lulu.

Maybe he's just an evil little man with revenge on his mind. It's probably this one.
