I've read, listened, and understood what both sides have side. However, the issue that some Primerica fans are not getting is how some of the Reps approach people. They also have to realize that they fit into a "class" that is not liked by very many people; that being of a sales person working for a "pyramid" company trying to make you rich quicker. I've personally been approached by many companies like this, with the latest being Primerica. The thing that these companies don't get is how to LISTEN! Sure, I want to get rich quick and without little effort, who doesn't. You don't have to preach that to anyone. However, what I've asked is, "How"? Explain to me, right now while I'm sitting down talking to you in person, what it is that you do and what it is that I would be doing. I don't want the super summary version and the glamore. Tell me what it is that will get me rich quick. ... AND THEY NEVER DO! You see, I have to go to several meetings to find out. I may have to put up some money first. ALSO, even though a few hundred dollars may not be nothing to most and may not be nothing compared to what you will be making, IT'S A LOT OF MONEY TO THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE NOTHING AND WORKING A LOW INCOME JOB. Anyway back to what I was saying. After several weeks of all this, you finally get an idea of what you're going to be doing... supposidly helping people with there finances and mostly selling insurance and funds, oh, and don't forget recruiting. OK! Why couldn't you just tell me this upfront instead of all the run around? This is what I DEEM as "the man's" way of TRICKING YOU. ... but "they" call it BUSINESS. It's another way of getting you into something that you really aren't interested in, AND THEY KNOW THIS! If it were any other way, then they would have just came out and stated up front what their company was about, and furthermore, answered your questions HONESTLY without the run around.
My rep stated things like, "you don't want to be working at the same dead in job for the rest of your life now do you?", "we're not sure that social security is going to be around much longer", "how would you like to take vacations in the middle of the week and not have to worry about money?", "how would you like to fly your own jet to that vacation?". My answer, YES, I would. None the less, what makes you think I cannot do that now? What makes you think I would want to change what I do, or at least, venture off into another job, when I'm happy with what I'm doing now? What makes you think I want to sell anything AFTER I've told you I don't like sales, yet you would rather waste my time and try my patience by asking me to attend some of the meetings? ... OH! and by the way, how about that $190 - $200 licensing fee now so that I can get you started? You see, this is the problem with companies like this.
1) Stop beating around the bush.
2) Get to the point
3) Save the get rich quick and all the money you can make for the pamphlets.
4) Give people time to make up there minds
If you approach people HONESTLY, then maybe the negative stigma wouldn't be there and you'll recruit more. Primerica Rep take this as a positive note.
