WHAT in the hell are we doing with our time. I spend more time, on email..and text messaging than I do, actually meeting with friends and family.
Work consists of more hours, commuting and weekends...where did we go wrong. COMPUTERS were supposed to streamline the process when in fact it has complicated it and usually if you think about it...has made the whole process inane. We used to be able to do things hard copy, typewriters, teletypes and photocopiers...and get our jobs done. Now, electronic mail, instant access to everything and we are spending more time at work and less time with family, friends and having fun.
I realize, that there is so much more we could do, than we did before...but WHY? WHY? do we have to do so much more than we did before? To make more money for the company? Pay more taxes to the government..because we have a higher income...because we are working longer hours????
I have friends all over the world, because of IM and Chat, but I also have friends across the street and in my home town...I know more and talk longer to my cyber friends?
The disappointment I feel, when I receive no email in a single day...is pathetic. I used to live without a computer, without cablevision...and lord knows...I never needed a cell phone...so why now...Why do people need to contact me 24/7? Can they not wait until the next morning at a decent hour...? Why do I have access to my email account at work? AND WHY do I check it when I am holidays and actually respond????
I don't know...things just seem to robbing us of our time, draining us of our resources...stealing our lives...and we are letting it...
