Marc had been sat in the darkness for a good two hours or more- but it felt like a lifetime. He sat in the hallway of his apartment , leaning against the wall opposite the door to Jessie's room, the door just ajar with the little girls nite-lite still on... as it always was. She's asked him to never turned it off- so he hadn't- even when they had moved out. He'd been staring at her door with raw eyes- raw from holding back the tears for so long- his jaw aching from keeping it set like stone for so long, an ache in his head from hitting his head back against the wall each time tears threatened. His little girl was really gone... she was never coming home... never. He'd never hear her giggle and laugh at him or hear her tell him how much she loved him any more. She felt more 'gone' from this apartment now than she ever had... and it left Marc feeling empty. Marc heard Ash's voice through the fog in his head, and his dark eyes shifted from the little girls bedroom door to the direction of the front door, though his throat was so clogged with unshed tears he couldn;t even speak.
