Affects of AIDS on the world

U.N. AIDS,

Recognizing that AIDS is becoming a serious threat to the world, as AIDS is causing a serious impact on human lives and social and economic development, as it has killed over 21.8 million worldwide, and over 36.1 million are currently living with AIDS, plus there are over 15000 new HIV infections each day. It is creating a crisis which is demanding a massively expanded effort of the UN. As a result, UNAIDS has been created to solve the AIDS crisis. It has killed over 21.8 million worldwide, and over 36.1 million are currently living with AIDS. However we feel that the UNAIDS could be doing more to help the AIDS crisis.

I. Expresses concern for the danger of AIDS

A. There have been an increasing number of deaths in Japan from AIDS, in 2001 that number was 430. There has also been many orphans who lost their parents from AIDS, 2000 by the end of 2001

B. The death rate for Japan due to the AIDS is 8 for every 1000 people, and infant mortality rate is 4 out of 1000 births.

C. Over 12000 people by the end of 2001 are living with HIV.

II. Is Aware That

A. The UNAIDS is working on providing care and support for people with AIDS.

B. The UNAIDS is preventing HIV transmission, and reducing the vulnerability for people and communities threatened by HIV/AIDS.

C. A subsection of UNAIDS(WFP) are working on assisting HIV/AIDS households with food and nutrition support, and providing food for education and other activities aimed at HIV/AIDS prevention.

III. Recommends that UNAIDS

1. Work on more countries, and focus on third world countries which are weak against the AIDS threat

2. Put in money to help scientists research a vaccine or even a cure for AIDS.

3. Put in money for medicine which will increase the lifespan of and AIDS infected person.

4. Make agreements with the US, Japan, China, or another high power country to loan their money for the help of AIDS treatment.
