Ok After the first pageant I went to I was schocked at what I saw!!! Ok I was not planning on going but I contacted the director to see if there were any other pageants they had for beginners, she e-mailed me back saying it would be great for my daughter because there were only 8 people entered in it as of that time. I explianed to her my daughter was really new with no eperence she still said come she can win!! I also asked her if it was a glitz pageant or natural , so I could be prepared. She told me that for the national level pageants they tend to be more glitz, but the christmas pageants tend to get more natural entrys, but light make up would be fine, she also told me all i needed to bring was a christmas wear outfit , and her pageant dress. So I think i am all set i drive 3 and a half hours to get there, and when I get there my heart skips a beat . We are so out of our league!!! there are much more than 8 girls there, and they all have hair pieces fake eyelashed tans expensive dresses more than just 2 outfits. But we went ahead and did the competition , the girls in my daughters group knew what they were doing!! they all had been doing it pretty much all thier lives. they know actly what the judges wanted , not to mention I had brought a smal 4 by 6 snapshot photo for the photogenic part and all the other girls had thiers done by professional glitz photographer, they all had ruteens and they all had every catogory out fit some had more than one outfit in each catagory!! It was a waste of time for us , I think they actually laughed at us to see us come in with a dress that i made and light make up thats it no eyelashes no hair no make-up artist no planned dance ruteen no experence. And theer is nothing wrong with any of those, I just felt I was lyed to . i asked so many questions and every answer I got was very untrue, 1. No my daughter had no chance at winning compared to the other girls. 2, there were alot more than 8 girls there. 3 . it was a full on glitz pageant not natural. 4 i needed more than 2 outfits. So please tell me if I am wrong, are all pageant about how much money you put into them? Do you have to have a coach in order to win do you have to spend thousands on a dress, do you have to spend thousands on pictures and outfits. do you have to have fake tans and eyelashes and hair in order to win? Thats my preception on it and i hope very much that I am wrong because my daughter wants very much to do this and we can't if it is about how much money you can put into it.
