A Statewide Search is on for Delegates for the Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant.
The Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant is searching for young ladies and women who are Intelligent, Talented, Poised, and Beautiful. If that is you, do not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity!
There will be a Teen and a Miss Pageant. Preliminary Pageants are scheduled this year in Columbus on May 21 and Dayton on June 3. The Columbus Preliminary is open to all eligible contestants. There will only be a Miss Pageant for the Dayton Prelimnary, which is open to eligible contestants in the Dayton, Cincinnati and the Greater Dayton areas.
One delegate from each Preliminary Pageant, in each division, will be selected as the overall winner and will receive her entry fees paid to the state competition in Columbus August 4-6. Winners of the interview, talent, and beauty (evening gown and fitness) categories will receive a discounted fee to the state competition. We will not double-crown.
The candidate select as "Miss Black Ohio USA" will go on to compete against 50 other state delegates vying for the title of "Miss Black USA" 2006 in October in Washington, D.C. State delegates will enjoy one week of promotional activities in the Nation’s Capital, culminating with the final competition which includes Fitness, Talent, Evening Gown, Interview (Preliminary Competition), and On-stage Question and Answer (Final Competition). One deserving delegate will be crowned "Miss Black USA" 2006 at the national competition, and will receive scholarship money, an array of prizes, and media exposure, with opportunities to speak both in the United States and abroad.
The delegate selected as "Miss Teen Black Ohio USA" will hold the state title and receive a scholarship savings bond. She will have the opportunity to make appearances throughout the state with "Miss Black Ohio USA" including attending the national pageant.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be African American and a natural-born female.
You must be at least 17 years of age an no older than 27 years of age for the Miss Pageant and have graduated from high school by the date of the national competition.
You must be at least 13 years of age and no older than 17 years of age for the Teen Pageant.
If you are a Miss delegate, you must be a resident of Ohio, attending college in, or be employed in the state of Ohio. If you are a teen delegate, you must be a resident of Ohio, currently attending school and must not have yet graduated from high school by the time of the national pageant if you are 17 years of age.
You must have a talent.
You must be single; never married. You can have children.
You must be a United States Citizen.
You may not have competed more than twice at the national Miss Black USA Pageant and may not have represented Ohio more than once; Miss Teen Black Ohio USA may compete in the Miss Division, once she meets the Miss Pageant requirements.
Competition Categories
Personal Interview 35%
Fitness 15%
Talent 30%
Evening Gown 20%
The top five finalists will re-compete in the same categories as above except On Stage Question and Answer replaces Interview.
