The Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant is seeking delegates to compete in its next competition in August 2008. Miss delegates (ages 17-27) compete for the title of Miss Black Ohio USA 2009 and Teens (ages 13-16) compete for the title of Miss Black Ohio USA Talented Teen 2009. The new Miss Queen receives at least a $1,000 scholarship at the end of her reign as part of her prize package. The Teen Queen receives at least a $500 savings bond at the end of her reign. The new Miss and Teen Queens also receive expenses paid to the Miss Black USA and Miss Black USA Talented Teen Pageant, respectively, where the Miss normally receives a $20,000 scholarship and the teen will receive a $5,000 scholarship as part of their prize packages.
Interested candidates must meet the age guidelines listed above and must be a US Citizen and must be any percentage African-American (Black). They must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and must live in, go to school in or work in Ohio.
The entry fee for the pageant is $175, which includes some meals. The fee does not include hotel accommodations, some meals, or transportation, nor does it include the fee for the optional photogenic competition. A minimum $50 deposit with your application holds your spot in the competition. All delegates must also sell at least one full-page ad in the Pageant Program Book. The delegate who sells the most ads will be named the Miss Black Ohio USA Ambassador and will also receive a crown and sash. The deadline for all applications, fees, photos and other paperwork is July 12, 2008, but it is recommended you get your applications and deposits in early, as applications will no longer be accepted once our maximum contestant number is reached.
You can also save on your entry fee by participating in the Essay Contest. The application fee for the Essay Contest is $25, and one lucky Teen and Miss will receive her $175 entry fee paid to the pageant. The Essay Contest is currently in progress and the deadline for applications is February 1, 2008. Winners will be announced on February 18, 2008.

Also indicate a mailing address if requesting applications be sent by US Mail.
Note: We also have preliminary directors for Dayton and Greene County/Clark County/Lima. There will be a Miss and a Teen Delegate selected in each of these areas. Also, if there are enough delegates from Central State and Wilberforce Universities, there will also be a Miss delegate selected from these Universities.
