I don't really understand how a person can gain perspective by not competing, unless it's one of the girls who has continuously competed without even making semi-finals (I won't name names, but I'm sure you can fill in the blanks). Seems to me that women who are repeatedly making the Top 10 or have been a Runner Up should keep at it and keep building on their experiences and skills. Annie is one of the latter.
