I can only speak for myself but have always found this to be so true with other directors.

As a local director of a program in Indiana, a percentage of my judges have included other local directors. I have found them always to be extremely fair and selected wonderful young ladies. Our local program has had a Miss Indiana as well as several in the top five and top ten at state. Conversely, I have also judged other local programs. If you love the program, then you want the strongest ladies at state to make the best Miss Indiana and best representative at Miss America.

Having judged for years, it's a very serious responsibility and not one taken lightly. There's not been a time when I haven't looked at each candidate and realized how hard they've worked and scored with thought and consideration. You certainly realize you are one of five (or seven)on the panel in which the results are in your hands. That never leaves your mind, and you want the best results.

The local directors in our state are friends -- many of whom have known each other for years. We support each other in many, many ways. To be asked by another local director to be a judge to select the next titleholder is an honor, a privilege, and one taken diligently.
