If you follow this message board you probably know that I check in once and while to see how everyone is and to keep myself up to date on the very small part of my life that is
"pageants." While I do not take everything on this board to heart (you simply can't or you'd go crazy) I do find it useful, sometimes, to see what I can do to improve. It is unfortunate, though, when I come here and see posts like the one above. I do not compete in the Miss Michigan and Miss Indiana Scholarship Programs to collect crowns. If I did that I would have quit long ago (since I've never held a title). I do plan on doing the very best I possibly can, and although that may sound trite I would be happy with the fact that, if I had fun on pageant day and didn't totally screw up anything, I'd be satisfied with not even placing. I plan on doing my absolute best this next weekend at Miss South Central. I am looking to win, but if I don't, I won't cry about it. And if Brynn is in fact competing, I wish her all the best. She is an IU School of Music sister of mine, and I will support her whether she wins or not. And let me be very clear, I will not, nor should anyone allow the rampant hype on this board to hinder performance or chances of my (or anyone's) winning. Different judges, different outcome. So, let it all be done, and may be the best girl win and have the honor of Ryan and David as their EDs. With the best of luck to every contestant, -Lindsay Shipps
