In reply to: 's message, "Do you feel a child's weight has any bearing on how they are scored? My daughter is starting to put on some pounds at her midriff and I'm afraid it will really hurt her scoring. I try to encourage her with a proper healthy diet and fitness, but nothing seems to be helping right now. any suggestions?" on 11:03:37 06/23/04 Wed

I had that problem with one of my cheerleaders last year, I coach. And she was having me help her with a pageant she was doing. She was 15.. We used hte design of hte swimsuit to camouflage...use designs that are primarily stoned, etc...on the neckline, maybe one with flowers or poms that stick out creating a dimensional effect. Also, using lines, diagonal lines cutting her in half / or \ across the suit. They help cut the body and make the middrif look smaller what we ended up doing was sewing ina full body brief that firmed her up and wear the lines were showing we used glitz to cover it up. On our design we created a rose/flower bow with contrasting colored chiffton drafting down, keeps the eye moving and is a really cool look....just some ideas.
