If you ask me, Fieger has no basis for this lawsuit, the guy killed was a troublemaker with a similar past. The police seem to have just cause to stop his actions, even if it meant killing him.

Family Files Lawsuit In Deadly South Side Shooting
Man Shot, Killed After Police Pursuit (3/16/2009) A federal lawsuit has been filed by the family of a motorist who was fatally shot on the South Side last month.
Authorities say Nicholas Haniotakis, 33, was shot and killed after a late night car chase in March. Police say Haniotakis was shot after crashing his SUV into a telephone pole, and then tried to run two police officers down.
According to investigators, the fatal gunshots were fired by State Trooper Samuel Nassan, who was on patrol along with a Pittsburgh police officer.
An autopsy showed Nassan fired the fatal shot, officials said.
Haniotakis' family says the man who shot him is a rogue cop who needs to be off the beat. But a state police attorney says that Nassan is not a rogue cop, and had to do what he had to do to save himself and another officer.
The family's attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, announced plans at a news conference today for the federal lawsuit against Nassan and several others over the shooting.
Nassan was cleared after the 2002 shooting death of 12-year-old Michael Ellerbe in Uniontown.
"Nobody is safe if we have someone like him on the street," said Diane Zion, Haniotakis' mother. "Everybody needs to understand that, that this man has to be stopped."
"To look at the past, if that's really what the plaintiffs want to the in this case, that can be kind of a dangerous thing, because Mr. Haniotakis was a very dangerous guy," said Eric Stoltenburg, a Pa. Troopers Association attorney.
Officials say Haniotakis was sent to prison for trying to run a police officer down several years ago.
"When that happens, a police officer has only has one choice, which is to return deadly force with deadly force," added Stoltenburg. "And when the investigation is completed, we're confident that that's what it will show. "
In addition to Nassan, six other law enforcement individuals are named in this lawsuit.
Fieger says he anticipates the lawsuit will work through the federal system within two years.
