Subject: Passive Peloton & Record Set Thursday Night

On a beautiful Spring afternoon, the Corinth Cycling Thursday evening peloton took time to smell the roses and warmup their legs still smarting from the Tuesday night death march.

The group was talkative and relaxed as they spun along the lake towards Shady Shores where things heated up on the Col de Shady Shores as they normally do.

The first time up the Col the bunch stayed together and Thrasher Tim boldly announced at the top that he wanted to climb the beast at least four more times. The cocky talk from Thrasher fired up the peloton as they rounded Lakeshore Drive and the first pedal was now turned in anger.

The second time up Tornado Tom and Tim Jr snuck off the front and there was no reaction from the bunch as they easily lead over the top.

The third and final time up an early surprise attack from Tim Jr caused a quick reaction as riders struggled to grab a wheel. Tim Jr could not hold off the pursuants and popped 3/4 of the way to the top. Dice sensed the drop in speed and attacked with everything he had with Scottie on his wheel. The attack was brilliant and Dice set a new Col de Shady Shores record with a max speed of 30mph near the summit.

Still there was the Corinth Parkway sprint to settle before calling it a day. Thrasher, starting to awaken from his winter hibernation, felt frisky and decided to lead out the sprint. He was pulling the pack at a firm 24mph which was discouraging early attacks. Finally, with only 750 meters until the finish, Scottie attacked.

The attack was sudden and decisive. Tornado Tom and Dice both made attempts to get on the wheel but were not able to. Scottie takes the win with TT in 2nd and Dice rounding out the top 3.

2007 CCC Summer Crit Standings:

Big Rick - 6 points
Scottie - 6 points
Dice - 4 points
Tornado Tom - 2 points

Note: 3 points for a win, 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd.
