I would love to eat vegan but my parents are meat eaters and they buy the food and cook it for dinner. And i am so lazy when it comes to cooking. If i could order a cook to make me delicious vegetarian meals i would do it. The only other alternative is going to the Hare Krishna centre, which is inconvenient.

I don't think meat eating for ordinary persons is bad. But certainly for persons meditating and trying to lead a pure life, it is probably essential to be vegetarian, especially if the kundalini is active.

But generally, i think the decision to eat meat is based on particular circumstances. For example, you might find yourself in a situation where it would be rude to refuse meat if it was being served. I don't know much about the karmic consequences of eating meat or the time it takes to resolve such karma after a chicken burger but i imagine it wouldn't take long. Plus, meat products at the supermarket have already been killed and sometimes i have said "well, it is already dead, so why not eat it?" If the soul is not present in the flesh at the time of consumption, then maybe the karmic consequences are less?

And of course the Buddha didn't advocate vegetarianism (i think). But isnt it ironic that he died after eating meat.
