He has the right to do whatever he pleases and nothing wrong with his approach. What I see wrong is when the individual himself becomes a self-appointed Guru. Sri Yogananda said that he was the last on the lineage of Paramgurus and now I can see why and for a good reason.

i.e. Ed Ballmer breaks away from Microsoft and claims Bill Gates is his "Guru" then re-create a similar company on his own. Don't you see both CEO's head to head in court?

In India an authrorized teacher gather a group of followers but he does not add his own picture to his Guru's gallery on an altar. Grasp my point?
When you hear someone said I'm the only gateway to the Infinite I have a problem.
In other words I don't need another middle man in between me and my Guru.
