One thing is certain, in the antique world there were commercial routes going to India and to China. Alexander the Great had been to India and Greek influence is found in many buddhist scultures all along the way and even in India. It is known as greco-buddhist style. Along these routes people and ideas travelled, therefore we can easily understand that buddhism was known if not practised around the Meditarranean.
No wonder that legends and myths in the East and in the Middle East show similitudes. Jesus, like all the other spiritual teachers of the time, most probably knew or at least had heard of the Buddhist and Indian doctrines. He did not have to go to Tibet or to Kashmir for that. Stories about his presence in India abound and are apparently found even in Eastern India. No one will ever know the truth about that.
