I personally know a few that have had samadhis, but no one claims to have the nirvikalpa which alone gives liberation. Sivananda and many others say this is in fact the true samadhi. As I explain in the post above, until one gets nirvikalpa, one should not get cocky. Liberation is permanent nirvikalpa consciousness. This is experienced in sahasrar chakra and is the father in the Blissful Void of non duality beyond creation. Christ consciousness is infinite light consciousness as experienced in the star of the kutatsa. Lower samadhis refer to the hearing and merging with the various oms in the lower 5 chakras. Yogananda tells how they match up with Patanjali's samadhi classifications in his Gita "God talks with Arjuna".

Lower samadhis of om in lower chakras as well as merging with christ consciuous light in the star of kutatsa are all a means to an end. They are not to be attached to but they are stepping stones for most except types like Ramana. I had one monk tell me they are encouragemnents of God to get the real samadhi and liberation. To rejoice about lower samadhis may lead to ego and misuse of powers. However, the experience of these lower samadhi states are much more than mayic illusion. They are in maya, agreed, but are less mayic than this realm.

You want the peace and ananda in the Void beyond creation. That is home for us.
